  • I was reading through the DockFlare documentation but I'm still confused about if the email setup requires the paid workers plan to work as an alias service. I thought it could be a possible addy.io replacement but the $5/mo workers subscription makes it a non-starter compared to $1/mo for addy.

  • It was an impressively quick fix. I wasn't alone in having it break HDR according to the official discord. Hopefully it's fully fixed with the next proton-ge release.

    Edit: After getting help from discord, switching to gamescope gets HDR working again.

  • That used to be a fair deal. We know better now and even have a word for what will happen to us once we're locked into the system, enshittification. Just about every subscription model eventually leads to squeezing as much as they can out of us without a corresponding increase in value.

  • Anything that runs windows can probably run Linux and work well enough for self-hosting. But you're getting ahead of yourself with worrying about hardware.

    Easiest way to start is to find something that you want to try selfhosting that is relatively simple and use WSL within windows to familiarize yourself with Linux/networking/docker.

    Once you're far enough along to know what your needs are, then you can start thinking about the hardware to meet those needs.

  • I haven't read the entire XDA thread but there are a few posts saying it's limited to ColorOS (Chinese version of android that everyone else gets as OxygenOS). Unable to verify.

    If they don't reverse course, I'm sure it'll roll out globally eventually. This has to run afoul of EU's strong warranty laws right?
