  • I'm, for once, jealous of the USA.

Here in Spain to open a business is bureaucratic hell.

Before doing anything you need to register in several administrations, not one, several. Once registered no matter you have sales or not, you have to pay a monthly social security quota. Several hundred euros a month even if you are not yet made a sale.

Then even if you don't sell absolutely anything, because your business was shit or whatever, you have to present sale tax models, even if they are at 0.

And there's no minimum, you have to do all this even if tou just want to sell one cool t-shirt you made for 1€.

At the end even the smallest business end up hiring some specialized person just to handle the bureaucratic mess for them, which add up to the monthly cost of having a business opened.

  • It feels like macOS is somehow over represented there. Specially for a global statistic. In many countries macs are completely residual, where I live I almost know more people using linux than mac.

  • Also it's again the false sense of security pf "if you don't use vibed apps you'll be fine", making people forget basic security procedures.

I, for instance, had a service vulnerable and discontinued without noticing for months. It was something 100% made before LLM was a thing. Still had unpatched vulnerabilities and the project was abandoned. It was my fault for not checking more often is the services I host are safe or not.

  • IRS agent: Vibe tax audit.

  • I tried.

But my country said Nuclear is scary and that we should burn fossil fuels instead.

  • Yeah, I agree with socializing education, healthcare and a lot of things.

But again, not because it's a bargain for society means that we should allow lousy teachers in it.

  • The fact that many people pay a little for something is not an excuse to waste that money. Quite the contrary, if you are taking everyone's money to do it you are obligated to do it right.

What I want is that education money te be well used.

  • Depending on how long they would be isolated.

Central american powers were starting to play with the Empire idea when europeans came along.

They might have had a Genghis Kang sooner or later.

Also contact by trade would have been almost as lethal as the conquest. Remember that most death were because the diseases the europeans brought with them.

  • Yep. University was also a scam for me. Learn nothing that couldn't be learned by myself. Hell, many courses I passed thanks to youtube videos, teachers failed to teach me how to pass their own class.

  • Someone is still paying thousands for that PowerPoint reading, just not you directly.

  • Modern Hinduism precisely changed a lot to compete and stay relevant when other faiths starting to show up in India.

It became much less focused on the polytheism and much more focused on philosophy like Buddhism.

Their own polytheistic beliefs has been shaped to be more similar to the Christian trinity. And many gods are seen as part of one supreme God.

It's just natural evolution of religions. In ancient times religions where about explaining natural phenomena. Thus we had the god of the sea, the god of the sun, the god of the rain, etc.

As those things got explained by science the gods needed to become more philosophical and vague.

Also societies got bigger. You used to have the god of your tribe, and the tribe next to you had another god, and you fight one against the other. Then people lived in empires, with millions of people under an unique faith. To keep them all united a single good and a well structured religion is more useful.

  • That's some ranked gooning level shit.

    I love it.

  • I think monotheistic messianic religions were kind of unavoidable seeing how in every part of the world they have been the most successful religions once societies become more complex and interconnected.

  • Also human race has committed atrocities against the environment since our earliest days.

Back in prehistoric times hunter parties used to create wildfires to hunt animals, completely disregarding the environmental damage of burning great amount of lands.

  • Guys, I it works.

Just think "make no mistakes" and you can do whatever you want.

  • AI vibecoded nuclear plant. What could go wrong? You just need to add "no nuclear meltdown" at the end of the prompt.

  • Definitive way to curb RAM prices, just use people's brains.

You could also sell part of your brain to openAI to offload part of their models for the cloud.

It's the matrix book but instead of cpu power is RAM storage.

  • I think we are making big mistakes ditching it.

Renewables have two problems that need to be complemented by other type of energy source.

1.- they take a lot of land. As energy demand increases the amount of land taken is going to reach a limit. Then what?

2.- Most renewables have low momentum. Mostly only hydro have great momentum. This is critical for net safety. My country recently falled into a total blackout among other things because our energy composition (high on renewables) had low momentum and couldn't handle some inestabilities.

For a complementary energy source we have 2 options, burning coal/gas or nuclear. Out of two options I prefer nuclear Sadly every country that ditched nuclear because "renewables are the future" ended upping up their gas/coal consumption for energy production. Most famous example being Germany.

I do think a mix of renewables and nuclear is the future we need to achieve.

Sadly most western societies only look on the short term. And a good national nuclear plant is a long term investment, most governments won't look so far after the next election, so here we are.

  • I suppose the worst case scenario is old people having to work because they cannot retire as soon.

They are already saying it that new retirement ages would be in the 70s

Not ideal, but far better than starving or being homeless because you don't have resources for so many people.
