I think her point was that once someone gets a little better off than most of the rest of the population they get haughty. And then they see the poorer people as stealing half their money in taxes. And become against taxes and business regulations. Because it affects them more directly.
And holding conservative fiscal values leads to adopting the social ones because it comes back to welfare scapegoating. And who you are rubbing elbows with. The echo chamber.
It's well known with psych research that being more wealthy (even in a pretend game) makes people less charitable and less likely to help out others.
People start to see themselves as better than rest. And likely because of the fundamental attribution bias, believe they are better off because they are deserving. Which means those not doing well, deserve their place too.
My friend was giving a theory on how this trend works to change mindsets.
We were discussing why it is that people who come from poverty and become wealthy, often have no problem exploiting the people from their own background. When you would expect more sympathy.
Oh she did have a baby,? my bad. Never saw any clips of her looking pregnant. But I don't intentionally watch videos of her since it's all just nonsense.
And I've always been good about wearing sunscreen but even so. I don't have any lines around my upper lip. She has a ton. It's from the stress of lying and having no ethics. And telling yourself it's all for Jesus.
Living a lie is incredibly hard on the body.
There is longitudinal research on closeted gay men. They have really poor health.
That's a good point. It won't stop Jewish parents.
I feel like it would be hard to make it illegal without making a religious exception. But that's what needs to happen.
I don't see it as any different than female genital mutilation, which is banned and illegal in most countries. Most people seem to be in agreement that it's not acceptable. Regardless of religion or cultural views of the individuals doing it. Why is this not applied to boys?
I mean, I personally think allowing harm based on religion is just opening the door for any crime.
"12 year old girls have to first have sex with an older male in their family because it's part of our religious beliefs"
You can literally make up any horrors and say your religion requires it.
Generalizations dont apply to every individual. It's just trends.
Research says a lot of people get less charitable when they get more money. But of course that's not true for every person.
