  • It's like a bleep on YouTube over some naughty word a guy says before he mows bad guys down with his machine gun. YouTube wants to protect its already-confirmed-adult viewers from hearing the spicy words as it could detract from the purity of the bloodshed.

  • I tend to write my cover letters at 0137 on way too much caffeine. I get the callbacks, so something in that must be working.

  • I talked general stuff with the Google guy (pingpong balls in a bus et al) but no coding challenges.

I guess I have truly left the realm of hard coding (at C) as it's all "solve this excellent infrastructure requirement and then rip out your brain and grab the crayons because it's in yaml and fucking ansible" now.

  • News flash: New Mexico renames Donald Trump

  • I learned this from my dad. The hardest part is to be nice to absolute assholes, but I've seen it does improve relations when you have to work alongside them.

Yes, I'm pissed that I have to mod my behaviour to be extra-nice to these dicks. Yes, I do enjoy that they coordinate better with me after I've nicely indicated where the last joint effort could have been better with that coordination.

It's all about how we be professional knowledge workers work and coordinate like adults and express disappointment and a wish for improvement, I guess.

  • high maintenance costs of VLANs

Said no one ever, until now.

  • The tricky part of being in society is that we want systems that work for more than just ourselves: It's not a purely transactional relationship.

Great news! It doesn't affect you either way, so we know your opinion on the matter is completely unbiased. That's excellent.

  • Not really anything to do with capitalism. If

You think for-profit healthcare, including elder care, pharma care, and long-term care, aren't a huge problem with capitalism written all over it, with every layer maximizing profits and minimizing services, then I urge you to re-assess it.

  • and Party On, dude.

  • carried by gorgeous visuals

    She sure did.

  • Yes! I can't find that Thompson Twins mix on streaming any more. I may have to actually self-host just to play my own rip of it.

I dubbed it into a blank and then cut it into a loop so it'd repeat forever, and used that as tunes when I needed to walk somewhere really far. It's etched into my brain.

  • Loved it for the memes, but now I'm coming back for the tunes.

Later: Wait. I already have every Offspring album. ;-)

  • I think it's the house judiciary who investigates the executive. Right?

    Aw crap. More dirtbags.

  • WHEN ARE YOU FUCKERS

I'm just gonna mention it's historically been a lot easier for people to send others into the fray than go themselves. I think we called those people chickenhawks, in the day, but I don't think it applies here.

Still, it's an important historical point.

  • I wouldn't quite call that "working", Bob.

  • the left’s hatred of the right

    This is a weird construct.

The left doesn't hate the right. The left hates the immoral and illegal things going on, and how the ability of some people to simply exist seems to be constantly at risk.

We can think people are cruel, selfish, misguided, bigoted, possible criminals without actually hating them. That hate is a separate thing because so many of the ones we see are just assholes.

  • anytime

    any time, here.

  • You go get unanimous agreement, and then we'll talk.

  • Ahhh, there we go. Incremental improvement is a sucker's bet, so how's "burn it all down" going so far?
