  • I already like DietPi, the bird call monitor is neat. Sounds like a project I might have to try out!

  • Yep, Mint with KDE is how I roll

  • Indica and sativa are pretty much meaningless now, aren’t they? Like, strains have been crossbred so many times that now “indica” vs “sativa” refer to the effects experienced more so than any real genetic distinction?

  • I was initially impressed when ChatGPT and Midjourney came out and I was playing around with them. But the novelty quickly wore off, and as I learned more about the flaws in how they operate and the negative environmental effects, the more I came to dislike it. Now, I actively hate and avoid AI.

  • I wouldn’t say trades are king, just that they’re more in demand than some of the more popular degrees in recent years, like CS.

An engineering or technology degree in a trades-adjacent field could be really beneficial, especially for someone how already has relevant hands-on experience. Something like controls, building automation, etc, might be a really good option for OP to build on what they already know

  • If you haven’t yet, I recommend checking out Soulseek

  • I’m an energy engineer, so coding isn’t the main part of job, but I use Python a lot for data analysis. So I load CSV files and reformat the data into how a particular program or person wants it. I also dabble with SQL and PowerShell for configuring data pipelines, basically picking a subset of data out of a database and using PowerShell to automate that extraction and the upload to a server.

  • Free Cascadia!

  • Yeah, nutomic and some of their statements were a significant factor motivating my switch from Lemmy to Piefed. I’m glad we have the option here on Blahaj, and shout out to the Voyager dev for adding Piefed support!
