  • Absolutely. Our trans-cestors fought for us to have a good life, so I’ll fight for us and everyone who comes after us too

  • That’s so good to hear! I’m so happy for you, and I can’t wait to be where you are

I feel like I’m one of the harder times right now. I’m ~4 months on HRT, and I’m out to almost all of my friends, who are awesome and have been really supportive, but not at work or with my family. I really want to be done with coming out to people and just be myself all the time! But my family are all Catholics, so I’m really nervous to tell them.

  • My egg cracked a few weeks after I turned 29. My 30s are gonna be an interesting time for sure, but I can actually imagine a future for myself now!

  • Dan has a new show called Show Me State of Mind, and I’m really enjoying it. Scratches that KF itch, and I don’t have to hear Alex any more!

  • Disgusting. Shame on Acton and the Ohio Democratic Party. I’m a Michigander, so it’s not like I needed another reason to hate Ohio, but I certainly have one now.

  • Don’t threaten me with a good time! I’d be driving a BYD right now if I could

  • Damn, that’s quite the thought spiral. Like, I can see how the train of thought gets there eventually, but holy cow. There are guys out here who give negative fucks and openly treat women horribly - leering, rude comments, groping, etc. Someone going “hey, your dress looks nice!” or “hey, if you’re ever interested in coffee or a drink, here’s my number” and not being weird about it is a completely different thing.

  • How often is a misguided approach really ruining men’s lives though? I’m kinda struggling to imagine an approach to giving a compliment or asking someone out that can be polite, respectful, and well-intended, but still go so off the rails as to wind up on social media and ruin a guy’s life

  • On the other hand, who’s lobbying against this, on either side? Seems like the kind of thing that could actually pass, since there isn’t a partisan fight over it, at least as far as I can tell

  • Absolutely not. No desire to see those people again. I didn’t enjoy high school, and I don’t like the person I was back then either. Everyone is better off going their separate ways.

  • All you need is an LLC. And those are like $50 to register? After that, how honest you are is up to you. The headlines are full of big companies and flashy names, but there are a lot of people out here working for themselves or with a couple of people at a tiny company.

  • Oh yep. Big time. I was raised in a very Catholic household in a quite conservative community. Religion aside, I think my parents were overall pretty good, despite being quite strict, other than their insistence on having surveillance over all Internet access at all times. Knowing your parents are constantly watching fucks with your head.

But what I’m still working through in therapy are all the myriad lessons I internalized through my conservative religious upbringing. There wasn’t any one particular thing, but that was 100% not the right environment for a trans girl who didn’t know it yet to grow up in. I barely knew trans people existed until I went to college, and I was pretty homophobic in high school. It wasn’t until I was out of grad school, living and working in another state, that I had the distance to finally do the self-reflection and therapy work to realize that I’m trans and pan and accept that about myself.

I had a moment after my egg cracked of “oh no, I’m the kind of person everyone I grew up around hates”. Jury is still out on how my family will react when I come out to them. I haven’t said anything because I’m afraid of how they’ll respond, given that I’m the only one who is no longer Catholic.

Anyway, I could ramble on. Short answer: yeah, my upbringing fucked me up real good, and I don’t know if I’ll ever be done working through it.

  • Thanks! I’m really excited for it. I’m going to have it done by an artist I’ve wanted to tattoo me for a long time

  • First one was a simple tree. I like trees.

Next one is going to be a possum dressed as a medieval knight with a lance riding on a snail.

  • I love MZ4250! I use his models all the time

  • Walking is a great place to start. When I was starting to get back in shape, that’s what I did. Slowly increasing walking distance and small dietary changes. The progress can feel frustratingly slow, but before long you’ll be able to start doing short jogs, and then increasing running distance and integrating stretching and some small bodyweight exercises. All you need is a pair of shoes!

  • He’s still alive, there’s still time for you to be the manifestation of the cosmic karma system!

    (In Minecraft, of course)
