  • Probably like a regional public university. Not a well-known public with a big sports program, or a fancy private Ivy League, just a smaller university that primarily serves locals.

  • Do weird stuff with interoperability! It’s why we’re here, and I think it’s cool

  • Part-time during summers in high school seems about right to me. That was around when I started working, just simple stuff like concessions at the local pool and stocking shelves at a shoe store. It makes sense too if they start driving, then they have a source of income for gas.

  • Communication about the problems you’re having with her behavior, and involving a therapist. Perhaps individually and as a couple

  • I would find it less respectful for someone to assume things about me based on what they see on social media. If their question is polite and born out of genuine curiosity, and they don’t react poorly to hearing “I don’t want to talk about that right now”, I would much rather someone ask me a question directly.

I honestly find it a little baffling to think that we should try to avoid talking to people that are different than us and learning about their experiences, in the name of “respect”.

  • I mean, if someone asks a polite question, the other person can just as politely say “I’d rather not talk about that”, and then everyone goes along with their day

  • Haha you caught me! I was hoping someone would make the connection

  • Fuck, that’s heavy. I hope you’re doing better these days

  • I believe you are correct

  • I don’t think I’m a unique case, and respectfully, you don’t know me. Certainly not based only on the information contained in this post. If you just want to discourage me, rather than provide actual advice, don’t bother.

  • That’s a lot to assume based on two sentences about something I did eight years ago

  • Yeah, I’m on Effexor. I’m not sure if hunger is a common problem with it, I’ll look into it though, thanks!

  • I’d be interested to hear about your experience with them! I mentioned it in another reply, but cost, side effects, and worries about regaining the weight once going off them are my main concerns

  • Cost mostly, but also concerns about side effects, and regaining weight once I go off them. I think learning to change my behavior and form healthy habits will probably have more staying power

I’m not ruling them out entirely, but they’re not my first choice

  • I’d really rather not

  • Unfortunately, I tend to eat my feelings, and depression just helps me gain weight :(

  • I’ve tried intermittent fasting before and didn’t have much luck. I’d reach my eating window and be so hungry that I’d blow through my calorie limit for the day

  • Huh, the more you know! I had no clue jello was so low calorie

  • I try not to. My wife likes buy snacks, she just has more self discipline than me haha
