  • Our list of gang affiliated clothing was so long the teachers couldn't remember what to enforce. They didn't dress code anyone because they'd have to start following the rules for everyone.

    It included: bandanas, slouchy toques, white tank tops, black hoodies, red or blue hats, and red or blue shirts.

    Fun fact: The school sports teams wore black hoodies with gold logos.

  • I'm not able to go vegan. Crickets are a pretty low impact animal protein product, and I don't find it any harder to work cricket flour into recipes than I did trying to make things vegan. I actually like cricket stew, crackers, and cookies.

    Could be good for pets, too, if obligate carnivores/omnivores can get the same nutrition from more environmentally friendly sources.

    For background, I was vegetarian for about a year before both a doctor and a nutritionist confirmed it was why I felt sick, tired, and in a fog most of the time.

    Aside from personal anecdotes, like my trans aunt marrying a straight man, and trans friends dating self-identified straight, or gay people who have never had a relationship or attraction outside their preferred gender—there have been studies on the subject.

    Not many, admittedly, since it's a new area of research. Politics, presentation, and genitals are factors (attraction to pre-op vs post-op trans people differs,) but there's plenty of anecdotal evidence, articles and surveys that have been published if you searched for "straight attraction to trans identities."

    I didn't post a link because none are as specific and comprehensive as the volume of information from a search. The Wikipedia article by that title has a short list of resources as well.

    And why not challenge yourself to consider alternatives to your views? Learn more about sex, attraction and gender identity because it's interesting? Unless there are specific reasons you don't want to think straight men could be attracted to trans women.

  • Not at will, no. But the sex/gender attraction thing isn't accurate.

    People who consider themselves straight may still feel the same level of attraction toward trans people of their preferred gender. In my limited understanding, this is based on a combination of presentation, hormones and pheromones.

  • I've read plenty of specific papers on the subject of menstrual cycles and effects of hormones and, in short, well, you're kinda full of shit. I don't think you know what a menstrual cycle or hormones actually are, and I don't think you've read tons and tons of studies on how hormones affect our bodies. Because you're just kind of explaining being a person. Those are the things that hormones affect for everyone, every day. And women do not have more of them than men.

    Everyone's hormones are always in flux, every day. Eating food can drastically affect your hormones. Aerobic excercise can affect your hormones. Men have hormonal cycles as well.

    What you wrote here about costs associated with medical research on women seems paraphrased from some out-of-date medical journal. Unless menstrual cycles are being studied, you do not "have to do all kinds of correction and analyses" to make sure they're not affecting that study. I have no idea where you heard that, and would go as far as to say you just made it up. I don't even know where to begin with the pregnancy test thing, unless you're thinking of only medical trials, specifically.

  • It was one of the worst pains I've ever experienced and they gave me mother fucking tylenol.

    I got the IUD after twelve years of trying to convince doctors my cramps were unusually bad, and being prescribed mother fucking tylenol, for what I later learned were "muscle spasms similar to labor," every. single. month.

    The IUD helped! If you have the same, ask about a Mirena and bring a flask of something strong. Like opium.

    I mean yeah, if someone tells me they want to get married some day and I fuck them anyway, that's a dick move. But again, assuming anything about someone's intentions without talking about it is just shitty communication.
