Nerdy girlthing! I really enjoy chatting about games and manga :3

My profile picture is a pixel art of a spooky pumpkin with cat ears and a witch hat on its left ear. There's night sky in the background. Made by me.

My banner picture is a scene from Lunacid Tears of the Moon showing a castle amidst mountains above which a cone of light spreads from a beam from the sky.

I have two alt accounts I switch to when I feel like using Lemmy instead of Piefed: @enemyofsun@lemmy.blahaj.zone and @retractedfangs@mander.xyz.

  • I can see plenty of your posts from my test .social account. You probably just need to follow your account to fetch the posts.

  • It can interact with peertube

Don't PT channels appear as communities on Lemmy? I feel like I heard it years ago but never got to actually use it as I've never found anything interesting on PeerTube.

  • I can contribute posts to Mastodon by adding hashtags to my posts, and I can already follow users from there to see their posts (ahhh toots?) even if they aren't bound to any community. So, at least on Piefed, the situation is improving bit by bit.

  • But you can do that! I can see my posts from .social account and they appear in my home timeline just fine after following.

  • I tried to use mbin but couldn't find a setting to hide voting counts so I left. I prefer my social networks number-less.

  • If you ever consider choosing a non-Mastodon Fediverse software, I'd recommend Wafrn as it implements Bluesky's protocol alongside ActivityPub meaning that it can interact with Bsky without a need for a bridge. A nice way to keep your follows without fully succumbing to the shitty moderators of Bsky.

  • The problem with nostr is that it quickly turned into a nazi bar at its worst so most people (including me) simply dismiss it whenever they hear about it.

  • Like this??

  • So I would just have to return to the way I've been posting before August hehe

  • The discussion may have worse UX.

Mastodon developers forgot that their social media may end up generating discussions. They were too focused on 'screaming into the void' aspect of Twitter!

  • As a corollary, being able to mute particular hashtags is also very welcome!

Mastodon does have a very good muting ability. I like that one can choose what feeds are affected by each word filter. It would be really helpful on Lemmy too.

  • I'm gonna follow my 🏳️‍⚧️country🏳️‍⚧️ then

  • Better interoperability with Mastodon is on Piefed's roadmap so maybe Fedi won't be as fractured soon. I find it a bit funny that Fedi has so many people on it but we can barely interact with them because they are on Mastodon and Lemmy can't talk to it.

I really like Peertube I wish it had content though.

  • Yeah but most people are on Lemmy so its' lack of integration is what shapes the local culture.

  • Wasn't Tumblr supposed to become Fedi-compatible at some point? Or did they move away from that idea by now?

  • Tumblr is its own thing though, and it isn’t going to be 1:1 with lemmy/piefed or Mastodon. The use case just isn’t close enough.

Fediverse has a Tumblr alternative nowadays - wafrn. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the culture there is much more different from both Mastodon and Lemmy. More chaotic and creative, it's really nice to see!

There are fandoms present on Mastodon, mostly anime based.

I'm surprised. My (limited) experience with .social's feed is that it's mostly Very Serious People who are posting, mostly about politics. Maybe I need to dig deeper.

  • Mastodon and Lemmy do not interact much though. And Masto has more people who found their way to Fediverse in a different way from Lemmy users. Meaning that there might be niches that Masto is more suited for, like game development.

  • So, microblogging is better for creatives of all sort and for those who want to interact with said creatives. What about fandoms? I feel like all sorts of fandoms are (were?) at home on Twitter and Tumblr. Has Mastodon caught up with fandoms yet or is it too small for this kind of stuff?

  • Mastodon is personality focused

Sadly I have no personality! Lemmy it is then.

  • Fediverse @lemmy.world

Does Mastodon bring anything of value to a Lemmy user?
