  • No shit dude. This is a meme about AI and construction. The entire argument this meme presents is the ability of AI (or rather lack of) to replace construction.

So coming in with a “AI has made in-roads with x other field” is a complete unrelated bullshit you’ve brought in to strengthen your defense of AI. That’s like if I said Invermectin doesn’t do shit for COVID, and you come in with “well it works great on horses”. Regardless of the legitimacy you feel your statement has, it’s off topic. And it still doesn’t change the fact that AI isn’t replacing shit when it comes to actual trades.

  • Intelligence is knowing Pineapple is a fruit. Wisdom is knowing it belongs on pizza.

  • Well duh, the printer was out of Pineapple

  • Don’t mistake my criticism as exclusion of other industries. At no point did I bring up any other industry and its relation to AI so let’s leave the straw man out of the argument. Furthermore you conflate sci-fi and hype with reality.

Specs exist, drawings exist, but work always deviates for one reason or another. It’s one thing to look at lines on a page and another to do it and be there. Little decisions to make changes to suit a situation or field conditions have to be made every day.

  • Uh, yeah. Cars are churned out as copies. Once you get it going, it’s rinse repeat. The difficulty is only upfront.

I’m talking commercial construction. Prebuilt homes have existed for ages. Hell you could buy a premade house from Sears. Good luck doing the same on a commercial level. To say nothing of the doldrum monotony of pre-fabricated buildings. There’s a reason pre-fabs aren’t more common.

  • Tells me you’ve never worked in construction. Building a building is far from straight forward. Shit changes way too often. Architects can’t and don’t understand every scope, but they get the broad strokes. Each trade understands their own scope best, which is why shop drawings exist, but even then, it’s the field guys who see what has to deviate from shops, which is why As-Builts and Record drawings exist. You will literally never seen a build go up as drawn. And that’s not even taking ASIs into account.

  • Literally nothing about loyalties in this.

  • No

  • You can’t justify the whole of the AI and its industry and how it’s come about with “well this one model does this ethically” while ignoring the foundation it was built on.

You gonna tell me next that, “you can’t make an omelet without breaking a few eggs?”

Sure, your little home server may not be killing the planet on the scale of commercial data centers, but participating in the use of AI is aiding in its propagation.

Furthermore, you may say that it’s helping you learn x, y, z but it’s been shown that it does impede your critical thinking over time. Part of learning is doing research on your own. You talk about learning from AI, but there’s a reason schools make you find the answers yourselves and don’t hand you the solution directly.

  • Showing off the pockets in cargo shorts like ladies show off skirts with pockets.

puts hands it little leg pockets See! It has pockets!

  • It’s not to distract from that. One can dislike something for the harm it’s done without detracting from discourse on the others.

  • Tell me you’ve never worked construction w/o telling me.

  • 3D printer ≠ AI

  • The thing that is actively destroying our planet in the pursuit of profits? That only exists through the theft and destruction of the creative works of others? Which is responsible for atrophying the critical thinking skills of the population? Yeah. Yeah I’d say it’s bad.

  • Honestly if someone remade an old YouTube alternative I think it would take off.

It’s what I wish PeerTube was, but I’m not sure if that will ever take off sadly.

Lack of advertising dollars is definitely an impediment to video platform alternatives…

I remember a time when people just posted silly little shitty drawn videos just for the fun of it. Not saying creators shouldn’t be compensated for their hard work, I just feel like something was lost with the monetization of every little thing.

  • No. He’s absolutely right.

  • Back in my day, YouTube had a 5-star rating system

  • Keiko being like: Miles you are NOT letting the woman carrying your child go on a romantic secluded getaway by herself!

    That was wild.

Miles ruining that end tho with the “unless…”🤦‍♂️

  • I mean, there is the whole Keiko x O’Brien x Kira x Shakaar Edon situationship.

Bashir x Leeta with their open relationship at the end

DS9 had a lot of changing romantic relationships compared to other shows.
