what are you doing in my lemmy profile

  • The only decent use of LLMs I have seen is a bot on Mastodon that generates alt-text automatically for posts of users who opt-in, and shows how much power was used to generate the text.

Other than that use case, I hate LLMs. They have never been useful for me and it just seems like overkill for most things, a search engine would do fine, you just have to use your brain a little bit.

Image generation also sucks. Stock images exist and you can just draw, take a photo, hire someone, etc. AI makes people less willing to learn because they think that AI can just do it better, it makes them miss out on the joy of art.

AI's job is to lie about being human. I fundamentally disagree with that and think its existence is unnaceptable. If AI-generated output was somehow always tagged as AI-generated, then maybe I would change my mind about this, but this is completely unenforceable because AI copies and mimics human output.

  • Totato, tomato taste without the weird gross tomato texture.

  • They killed 3rd party apps, I didn't wanna use their app, so I switched to something else and that something else happened to be Lemmy. Turns out, Lemmy is even better than Reddit in many ways.

  • Like about every 5 to 7 years as that's usually when it starts getting pretty slow. Not sure why or if it's planned obsolescence, I take good care of my phones. My current one was gifted to me by my aunt last year, at the right time.

  • I thought credit/debit cards had infinite money. Not sure how that idea didn't lead to me doing incredibly stupid things.

I somehow also thought my parents got groceries for free because I didn't see them giving physical paper money to the cashier. Or I confusingly also thought they were stealing or something, and the cashier just let them.

  • superhot, i think, haven't played it in a while

  • WAIT this actually has code in it I was reading the README and thought it wasn't actually gonna be implemented lmao, this is peak satire

  • idk who that character is, but i don't like AI, it is polluting the environment and polluting the internet, all while disrespecting the work of artists (visual artists, musicians, voice actors, writers, photographers, etc)

    opt-out is not consent

  • Yeah, but I enabled cookies for lemmy.zip then solved the captcha and images from there still don't show up.

  • I've noticed that I cannot see images hosted on lemmy.zip unless I visit it manually, what could be causing this?

  • I use JPEG with 90% to 95% quality and it gets similar results to a PNG while occupying way less space usually. I wouldn't use it if I was uploading to Reddit though.

  • Broccoli tastes great and smells kinda weird

  • Rice, ground beef, bananas, papaya

  • On PC I use my instance's website, on phone I use Voyager

  • if i had that many books i'd organize them how i organize my clothes. if i pick a book to read, it's going back at the front when i'm done, so it's easy to pick it back up for reading later.

this will naturally sort books from most to least read, and then the books i finished or haven't read will be at the back... eventually, i think.

  • Not really, you can disable online mode and make your own authentication system (or use a plugin someone else made to handle authentication directly on your server). This is usually done to let non-premium (aka pirate) users join (which is, to my knowledge, against the Minecraft EULA), but I'm sure if Microsoft were to really mess up and do something like disabling multiplayer support for older versions ("pre-enshittification versions are not supported by our servers" or some bs), people would just authenticate it themselves, or make their own server software (challenging task but not impossible).

  • It isn't sad if you're happy.
