  • Nothing is too big to fail

    Is a balloon ever too big to pop?

    No, let it pop, let it burn, let it rot, and lets learn the lesson this time

    We must accept our consequences so that we can finally actually move foward

  • What effects do the judges opinions actual have? Is it literally just like a news paper opinion columm - formal soap box, or does the opinion actually change how things are done and have tangible impacts for how governance is actioned?

  • Are there any examples of what kind of power and infpuence a clerk wields in the scotus?

    Like, what kind of actions are clerks able to do - assuming the sc judge gives a long leash?

    I dont have much insight at all into the justice systems sausage making process

  • "Be excellent to each other"

  • Similar to the other commenter, its the process of advancing awareness

    • Unaware: impulse -> reaction
    • Awareness: impulse -> reaction -> processing
    • Guilt: impulse -> reaction -> critique reaction

    ^ you can get stuck here for a while making bad reactions and not being aware of the bad reactions until after doing them, the more you critique them and and accept yourself the sooner you can then transcend to

    • Learning:: impulse->identification of trigger->reaction-> critique

    ^ this is a frustrating time where you still feel like youre making the wrong reactions, but you are now aware of the trigger

    • Fixing: impulse->identification->response->critique

    ^ at this point you now know your trigger and have a number of prepped safe responses to that trigger, that are further honed until satisfied

    Idk, for me it works to just nag at myself, and interrupt my thought or speech realtime when i see myself not acting how id like to, and eventually, like swirling the drain, my awareness eventually moves from after my reaction to before my response - and thats when i gain my agency back and act the way id like to

  • Wild stuff, thanks

  • I wouldnt be mean to him if he stepped down from power, but hes holding onto power despite his incapacity, despite his total change of priority and alliances from what he told his electors

    He is harming and misrepresenting his state and constituents

  • I think ive missed a reference, how does that link contribute to ddosing?

  • Its a true language, you dont hand an illiterate kid shakespear and tell them to have at it, you start them with basic books, even guided readings, and have them read out loud, and then they advance through more complicated books until they get the hang of things and start making their own essays, they continue the process of moving from simpler to more complex books/code-projects until one day the developer becomes minted when they have an idea of their own and they realize they have the vocabulary and strong enough opinions already formed to just make the idea their own - and then the learning is self sustaining.

    Dont put the cart before the horse, shovel the shit for a while until you figure out where it lands - theres no workaround to gaining experience - just got to experience it

  • Selfhosted @lemmy.world

    Any self hosted robotic lawn mowers?

  • Thatd be so cool if they went on the 4th like jefferson and adams

  • The first person on the panel, wearing two monocols and a rainbow progress lapel pin, "well you see, obviously we all want universal healthcare, but the reality is, we just cant afford it" as they say this, they sign another pledge to send billions of bombs to lebanon via isreal and just after an intern crawls in and delivers a bar of gold right in front of everyone as the camera pans to the next democrat who then rags about how progressives are just self defeating losers while he unawarely stands on the neck of a protestor and vocally wonders why they always complain so much as he twists his heel into the protesters larynx, the third democrat on the panel has fallen asleep - once a civil rights champion in the 1830's, their age has crept up on them, but their district still seems to keep voting their coffin in regardless

  • Dont be a troll, this is pathetic.

    Come back to this tomorrow and reread it if you have to.

    I'm done, heres your three paragraphs though, i still love you.

  • This is so frustrating

    The commenter was building on top of your argument

    You said prohibition wasnt healthy

    They said total absence of control wasnt healthy

    They implicitly agreed with you that prohibition wasnt healthy

    I then spell it out for you that the message being built, that almost certainly you also agree with, is that moderation is the answer.

    A counterpoint turns a random point into a line, a line into a polygon, a polygon into a solid, etc.

    That counterpoint gave your message an extra and important dimmension. They thought your message was correct but lacking neccisary nuance.

    For some reason you got peeved with that, and i think that looks poorly on you, not anyone else.

  • Dosent to me at all

    They didnt even really counter your point, they gave another perspective to form a stronger argument of what your message was already saying

    Parents should teach and guide their children moderation, especially for such common and addictive substances like sugar, especially when without moderation serious health and quality of life damages can apply

    If a parents goal is to raise healthy humans with a high quality of life - they should be teaching and guiding children into moderation, not prohibition and the shame that goes with it, not hedonism and the shamelessness that goes with that

    Its not that sugar is some fearful substance that should be prohobited outright, but its also not a substance without issue and should be moderated and controlled if modersation is not yet possible for such a still-developing human

    There are many such substances that need this parental guidance, sugar is just the most obvious one to younh parents - a toddler probably/hopefully isnt hitting a 40 or a roach

  • Beautiful implementation!

    Ill have to experiment making zucchini like that

    Do you judge a book on it last page, paragraph, or its sentence, or its last word, or its last punctuation, or the last page number at the very bottom right?

    I certainly dont, i judge the book for the book it was, in totality (or as much of it as i remember).

    Life is the journey, not the end. The end isnt the point, nor the goal, nor even the destination - its just a point no different than any of the others.

    Release yourself from worrying about one moment, and allow yourself to see the beauty and capability of the entire life

  • Do make sure to retry freecad if you havent in a while - they finally merged their big update that made faces not break - its still got a learning curve but its far less frustrating now
