  • Don't know about most places but regarding Germany, OP is correct. It's verboten to film property of neighbours, public places or places shared with neighbours with your statically installed surveillance camera. You have to get consent of filming neighbours and you have to put up signs informing persons like delivery drivers that they're getting filmed. That's what my short search resulted in.

  • Audio is a smooth sail for me these days with multiple Linux distros thanks to pipewire. Tried on multiple desktop PCs with Intel, NVidia and AMD hardware from older to newer and never had audio issues. Be it OpenSUSE, Bazzite, EndeavourOS, Arch, Mint or Fedora. All have Pipewire as the default sound system, IIRC. The integration under modern KDE Plasma is fantastic. I recently discovered Helvum which makes audio routing via a patchbay GUI really easy. Don't know if Pipewire is suited for music production though or if you still need Jack for that because of latency issues.

  • I'd wait for sales of your games instead. I tried one fitgirl release on EndeavourOS I had from my Windows days (which ran perfectly on there) recently. Tried with Bottles and Lutris and the latter worked eventually but the performance was subpar and it was quite a hassle to get it to run as I had to try many proton versions with a lot of restarts and black screens. Steam and Heroic games run fine though.

  • But also the sugar and fat part has pretty serious consequences in parts of the world like Diabetes type 2 and the displacement of traditional cooking and is linked to political issues like lobbying. This long NYT article from 2017 about Nestles manipulation of eating habits in poor comunities in Brazil shows the impact (don't know if it has gotten better, though). Even obese people can be malnutritioned and once you aquired Diabetes Type 2 it can only be remedied, not cured.

  • Or at least feed the dogs plant based and phase out having cat as pets. IIRC it's 20% of all livestock in the US that's killed just for cats and dogs and about 70% of that 20% is for dogs on top of my head. Dog can live fine if not better on a well formulated plant based dog food. Just look at some of the reviews for Purina HA Vegetarian (it's vegan btw) dog food. A lot of dog owners cured the gastro intestinal and lot of other problems their dogs had with it. I'm not affiliated. There are other well formulated plant based foods like AMI successfully used by many dog owners. Just seen a video on "The Dodo" of a dog who was at the verge of being put down because of weight loss till the veterinary got the idea the dog could have a meat allergy and advised said Purina food. The dog is now healthy and thriving again. That diet change on a global scale would take a huge burden off of the environment.

Not want to neglect your statements about zipcode and whereabouts of your upbringing are more important than your DNA in how your IQ is. But the movie isn't making that statement either, IIRC. It's just saying that the people who could give their kids the "best" start in life, because they already would now how to not raise their kids in self-inflicted immaturity, aren't procreating. But I don't think that this is factual.

If cult-members would google him they would not watch the short: his name is Walter Masterson and he did some, genius IMO, parodies on MAGA-ralleys and gained access as a speaker to events from groups like Moms for Liberty, I believe.

  • Yes most tiling solutions on KDE are half-baked even the new built-in (at least the last time I tried) but Krohnkite is really solid. It was forked to Bismuth, then that one got defunct after a major kwin update. But it's back again as Krohnkite (infinite thanks to the maintainers). It's rock solid and even has a B-Tree Layout now. I'm on X11 but the last time I tried it also worked nice with Wayland.

  • A dev named funinkina has made an application working alongside the KDE screenshot application spectacle. It's surprisingly lean code which utilizes tesseract and works fantastically. Just compile, ln -s the app to your bin directory and give it a global shortcut like "CTRL+Shift+Print".

  • Jup. That should always be paid work. It takes forever. I tried to subtitle the first Always Sunny Episode. I got very nice results. Especially when they talked over another. But to get the perfect timing when one line was about to get hidden and the other appears was tedious af. All in all the 25 minutes cost me about the same number of hours. It's just not feasible.
