  • America is a big country. The schools in Finland are different from the schools in Italy.

  • In the Des Moines area all the difference schools share the same funding. Some schools are still vastly better than others.

As I've said before the largest factor seems to be parents that don't value education teach their kids to not learn much in school.

  • While what you says it true, beware that some of the worst schools are well funded. The issue isn't money to schools, it is the people on poor areas don't value education and teach their kids learning doesn't matter

  • I have one with a small solar panel for scout camp. It sits on my tent all day and I can get a charge when I happen to be by. earns the kids some green points in the daily inspection

  • I've seen engineers no be promoted for complex code. Not all managers are stupid

  • Pull out is only useful for a couple that wants to have a kid or two in the near future, but wants to space them out. If your goal is a few kids, but not the 15-20 your body could produce with regular unprotected sex it is great. For everyone else it is terrible for all the reasons others have mentioned.

  • those contract workers will be eating at the local cafe for the duration of construction. 200 staffers seems high, but 70 sounds about right - data centers need a few people to replace old racks, clean the walkways (bathrooms...), maintain the HVAC systems (in a data center this is a full time job) and other tasks, and 70 is the number I hear. Though maybe this data center is bigger than the ones I've heard of.

  • China has been planing to reunite with Taiwan for decades, and they are clearly building a military capable of that. The US has committed to protecting Taiwan. That is the US has been planning war with china since not long after WWII. It hasn't happened yet, it may never happen, but it is planned for and one of the more likely wars the US could get involved with.

If your country doesn't have a plan to go to war with every other country in the world (separately) your military leaders are incompetent. Most counties far away are very low risk and so the plans don't have to be well thought out, but you should have at least the start of a plan. The more likely war is the better you plans should be.

  • It never was, but there were always doom and gloomers saying it was.

  • People said the same we can't fix it about the ozone layer.

  • What is the point of it? If the are doesn't cryptographically trace to the right birth certificate for who is at the keyboard now it won't do anything - kids will lie about age if there is any issues. If it does trace back that well there are huge privacy problems.

  • where do the maitainers of the linux distro of your choice live? I mean every single person because if even one lives in CA (Brasil...) you have to either 'fire' that person or follow the law for their sake. I agree systemd shouldn't be the place for this, but systemd wants to take over everything and I'm sure some of their maintainers live in CA thus they feel they must.

  • It won't protect children, but you can't igore the law. You can get lawyers and fight that way. However too many eevelopers live in CA to ignore and every one of them is at risk of the law going against them. Small distros can say they don't have anyone who maintains it in CA so the don't allow their distro to be used in CA. Large ones cannot ignore the law just because it is stupid and won't work.

  • The estate has to pay them off. If the estate can't it files bankruptcy and the courts divides what is left according to laws. The dept do not pass on, but sometimes the court will sell things to get cash.

  • I don't like coffee, so I picked slow news day when the report was how coffee was bad for you and never again read news about coffee.

  • You should try it - some people report various health benefits. Others report no effect. (and half from both groups are looking at what they care about and ignoring other evidence) Your doctors may have guidance on how it affects you.

I'm only asking for a 2 week trial. Then evaluate if it is worth going longer or not.

  • For sticker sheets you want a straight through paper path - this often means feed sheets one at a time, and catch them out the back instead of letting them to to the paper tray.

Stickers meant for printing in printers generally will work with a normal feed though, so if you don't mind opening your printer you can take a chance and normally be okay.

  • I hear that once in a while, but so far it seems to be mostly haters have to take everything to the extreme vs a real problem. Still things could change.

  • There is nobody else on earth who agrees with me 100% on morality. (Jesus isn't on earth, and I only agree with him because of a commitment to change if he says something). Other than you might not be a Christian and thus have a different religious figure the above applies to you to. as such you have no choice about consuming something from immoral people.

the question is when does some immorality become so bad you reject someone because of it even though the thing I question otherwise has nothing to do with the moral issue.
