  • I think for that effect, you just need to be political or controversial in such a way that you tap into the polarization that afflicts our society. In that case, provided your transgressions are not ones that your fans' 'team' cares about, or are ones that the opposing team cares more about, then you are guaranteed to have those fans continue to support you. With any luck you can portray yourself as a victim of the enemy team, and therefore be a hero to your fans' team.

  • When something becomes "second nature" like writing, it is impossible to know exactly what your brain is doing to do it, because it is doing it automatically without you being consciously aware. (I think that is what some other comments mean in calling it "muscle memory".)

    So asking people this is not going to get you reliable answers, it is going to tell you what people think their unconscious brain is doing.

    However the word you just wrote is right there in front of you, and you know mentally what word you just wrote, so seeing or knowing that there are t's and i's that need completing, seems pretty much a no brainer. Of course this is the sort of observation we use to make up answers about what our brain must be doing...

  • Yes different languages use different sets of characters, most of them overlapping in the case of Latin derived characters. It would be vastly less convenient if there was a completely different set (with mostly the same characters) for every single language. And what about variants over time and region and dialect? So it is much better to model them as subsets of the same larger character set. Note that À and Á are different characters with different Unicode symbols.

    The human world is messy with lots of inconsistencies and irregularities, particularly from pre-computer times because humans just deal with them and tolerate mistakes. This is a challenge for modelling properly in computer systems. It does not surprise me that there are even bigger challenges around this for Kanji / Hanzi.
