  • Macs, when the macOS was still called MacOS X, stability, sensible UX, and much better software and hardware compared to Windows.

  • The thing is, China has little oil of their own, so a push into wind, solar and electric vehicles helps their strategic independence. The US has plenty, and enough entrenched interests to keep pushing ahead on 20th century technology.

  • I don’t know, perhaps gaming will get rejected AI chips with a few cores broken. The chip design requirements are slightly different but not completely foreign

  • Probably Freemasons?

  • From Wikipedia: “

UpScrolled was launched in June 2025 by Recursive Methods Pty Ltd.[2][3] It was founded by Issam Hijazi, a Palestinian-Australian app developer who previously worked for IBM and Oracle.[3][4] UpScrolled is backed by the Tech for Palestine incubator.

Whenever I run a modern Linux on a PowerPC Mac it just turns into a boring slow old computer that feels even older than the same hardware running an ancient MacOS X

  • Most interesting parts of Handmaid’s Tale “Gilead” are when they’re boasting about reductions in pollution and greenhouse gas emissions their eco-christo-fascism has produced!

  • I don’t know, society might be better off with you doing science!

  • Technology @lemmy.world

    What's up with Kevin Kelly's '2049'?

  • I’ve never seen the appeal. A simple smb share and Kodi work perfectly fine no?

  • This was a transitional stage, HarmonyOS Next is running a fully different kernel and runtime

  • Well, Hong Kong turned out in large numbers and still was squashed. And Trump seems to like the way Xi and Putin run their countries “with an iron fist”…

  • Yes they were afraid of reciprocal tariffs from china, but also many Tesla’s sold in Europe are actually made in Shanghai, the Berlin factory only makes high end model Y’s.

  • It’s like an arms race, would be good if no-one did it, would be bad if China got there first.
