  • I've been thinking for almost two years about getting a severed hand holding a glowing gem; specifically, as told in The Silmarillion, Beren's hand holding the Silmaril Gil-Orestel, having been bitten off by Carcharoth, the great wolf that guarded the entrance to Morgoth's fortress Angband. later when the wolf was killed and his stomach cut open to retrieve the gem, his insides were burned and charred by the light of the Two Trees, that harmed any evil creature that touched it, but Beren's hand remained whole, still holding the Silmaril

    the issue is it's a pretty specific custom design for my first one, and I don't seem to be able to find artists willing to even let clients see the design before sitting in the chair to have it done. I'm willing to pay for design services separately before booking an appointment to actually do it, but that doesn't seem to be how the industry operates

  • "fun" fact, Stockholm syndrome doesn't exist. it comes from the fact that some of the hostages in a particular situation felt that the police constantly attempting to escalate were a greater threat to their safety than the people who took them hostage, and wanted them to just negotiate instead of repeatedly trying and failing to do swat-style raids of the building. this perfectly reasonable reaction couldn't be allowed to be presented in the media, so they made up a fake psychological condition to explain it

    how does publishing an article saying that something has not happened yet prevent that thing from happening after the article is published?
