I used to discuss it with the people on c/fedigrow because it would bum me out. I thought I had upset people somehow.
They reminded me of things like spring break from school and people doing family things and all that. I don't have kids or close family, so a lot of that kind of thing slips my mind that others have to do things in relation to that.
And once you see they do eventually come back, you get used to it.
As a daily niche subject poster, yes, please participate, even if it's just something simple. It makes me feel like I'm not just talking to an empty room. Upvotes are fine, but I post to try to get you guys enthused and taking interest in the subject matter.
I need to use my Subscribed feed more. I've been doing All - Top 6 Hour since I'm pretty active, but lately I feel I'm missing a decent bit of what I want to see.
Also thinking about it more, it would be cool to see more people write posts on how to get into hobbies, cool beginner projects that are maybe below the poster's skill level but would make good first projects for people, or instructable type posts. Things anyone could do with little to no experience.
I really like how the origami community was doing theme weeks where we could share different animals we attempted.
Mostly just the ratio of news/politics to fun/hobby posts. It's stuff I could already find on any other news platform or social media, and there's seldom discourse about the topics. It's often just negativity or some type of leftist gatekeeping. I'd rather just go to the AP news page and read it there.
I like seeing everyone's art, woodworking, 3D prints, origami, nature photos, and all that other good stuff way more. I like learning about you guys and your interests and I think having a small platform allows that, but many of us either forgot how to share things online or are too you to have ever been a part of mailing lists or IRC and the like.
I post daily and have a fairly steady amount of up votes and comments. This time of year interaction dies down pretty noticeably. I used to think it was me and I was doing something wrong, but people are just doing spring stuff and not on here as much. They'll be back. There's a couple periods a year where it happens. It's just more noticeable here since we have less people.
Yup, screw any non-discriminatory animal control. I work at a wildlife rescue and we have to pull birds and all kinds of animals off those things, and it's just plain cruel to rodents as well.

The Jamboree is a 10 day event this July, so all that staffing provided by the gov is probably a huge expense, and if Hegseth pulled all that now or in the future, they'd be screwed. So essentially, this is coercion to get what they want.

While socialism never took off to the extent Sinclair hoped, we did get the Pure Food and Drug Act and Meat Inspection Act, though those are feeling more like suggestions rather than standards with things like these policy changes and how cleanliness and food safety were treated through the COVID epidemic.
Last year I was feeling really down on people and how the world was going. I signed up for a volunteer gig to get outside and be a little productive.
I mainly expected the work to be satisfying, which it was, but my biggest surprise was how great being around like-minded people that also wanted to make our community better felt.
It feels more like hanging out with friends, even though we're busy as hell, and not like a job because we're all there by choice, and we get to see on a daily basis how our efforts are helping. It may only be a drop in the bucket, but it's not as though we're the only group working for our cause.
It's one of the most satisfying choices I've ever made in my life, and if you can find time (my commitment is 4 hours a week for half the year) it may improve your outlook on things if you're feeling like everything around you is bad.

It is open source, but dev has had issues with F-droid's approval process last I checked. Not a deal breaker for me.
Summit is heads above the other clients for me. Dev has added a bunch of feature requests from me, so that certainly helps. Steady development of the app and they respond to everyone quickly on here with questions/comments.

Nah, my gram was my favorite person ever, and she lived the life she wanted to live and she chose to leave when she did. She was one of a kind and it would be a cheap, heart-wrenching impersonation to have someone try to bring her back as an algorithm. I think I would be very upset if anyone tried that.
It would not be a ghost of her any more than a biography is a ghost of someone. It could look and sound similar, it could have a lot of her memories or speech patterns, but that's all an interpretation of memories of her, but nothing of the lady herself.

He was debating with Jerry at the dinner about turning it into a "real charity" which quickly devolved into people showering him with praise in order show worthiness of his "generosity" (jeez, this is sounding like how I imagine the Board of Peace will operate...). When Kruger calls him in, he still chickens out and gives the money back unprompted and plays the victim of religious persecution for his father's celebrating of Festivus instead of Christmas.
I don't know if George would have went through with it, because his cowardice, paranoia, and desire to not actually do anything likely would have won out, so I still think he's less evil as he at least somewhat confesses to being a fraud and he returns the money without a fuss, which doesn't seem like the behavior of a FIFA Peace Prize winner.
