  • Thanks. Sneaky bullshit.

  • Ohhhh, 90 minute is already a treat in itself. That sounds delicious.

  • The article is good, but the title is very funny and seems like it could be the set up for an onion style piece imho.

  • It was delicious. Apparently can’t get it here in the states.

One of the weirdest things about that experience was that I witnessed some anti-polish racism? Like this British guy walked in and was just savage to all of the employees. Didn’t realize hating polish people was still a thing.

  • The only vodka I’ve ever had that tasted good - enjoyable and not just something I tolerated for the alcohol - was a shot of buffalograss(?) flavored vodka at a polish restaurant in London.

  • Yes! I was reading him during ElevatorGate, and I remember the reaction to that stupid Dawkin’s “Dear Muslima” comment. (What a s surprise Dawkins turned out to be a complete chucklefuck.)

Not a hint of sexual pest behavior, still very actively fighting back against conservative Republican shit heels.

  • Pharyngula and Slacktivist are ancient and still running. I’ve been reading both since I graduated high school/had a Google Reader feed with 1k+ blogs. Both very different: Pharyngula is a ran by an atheist biology professor, while slacktivist is a Baptist laid off journalist who was/is working retail.

The big thing with these blogs in the heyday of blogging - these comment sections were spectacular. Slacktivist drew me in because he did page-by-page analysis of the Left Behind series, and the commenters would write often high effort, good fan-fiction in response to whatever passage. On Pharyngula, you could see multiple actual scientists rip a stray creationist wandering in to shreds.

There’s just something different about old school blog culture versus “link aggregators” - nothing like the feeling of a “free Friday thread.”

  • I’m just wondering why I’m on the regex list. I guess leftist and trans is probably enough.

  • I wonder what earns a place on the regex list versus the other. Did we only medium piss him off?

  • Ah yes, experimenting on poor Native kids with a robot that looks like a fucking sex doll.

The long term goal is absolutely to remove educators from education. Robot is cheaper than a teacher and you control what it teaches.

  • There’s an entire genre of these weird “fruit Love Island” AI dramas that pop up on my TikTok. It’s terribly animated anthropomorphic fruit, and the plot is usually that the wife is cheating on the husband with the boss and gets pregnant.

  • We “learned” that in 6th grade science.

I remember the same teacher had a test question which was something like “you and a friend are playing at a landfill, and your friend spills sulfuric acid all over themselves, what should you do?” and the ‘correct’ answer was “pour sodium hydroxide on the spill” instead of my answer of “pour water on the spill.”

I had another science teacher who made a huge deal about her chronic Lyme, which is this really weird alternative medicine thing.

  • Did you know that body builders often seek out breast milk for macro purposes? There’s nothing inherently sexual about breasts or breast milk.

Also, even if you were mixing sperm into your food, the implication is that the food is being stolen. If someone is stealing your soggy cookies, that’s kinda on them.

  • We’ve got weirdos pretending that this waters down the term rape in this thread, lovely.

When you are having sex with someone, presumably you are trusting them? You are trusting them to be safe, to not push boundaries, to do only things you consent to do.

When someone stealths you, they are saying that they don’t give a fuck about you. That trust was misplaced. They are willing to do something to you that you explicitly did not want. Are they going to stop there? (The same type also often pushes for anal/“accidentally” attempts penetration there.)

It’s terrifying and traumatic. Your head races - are you current on your birth control? How likely do you think it is that this guy has some disease? And you get a physical reminder that your consent didn’t matter, the sensation and needing to clean up after if they finished.

It’s also so goddamned common. It’s trivialized.

If you slip the condom off without someone’s consent, you are a rapist. Rape fucks victims up whether it’s a stranger in the bushes or a FWB stealthing you.

  • Does HIPAA have any teeth? My state seems to think it’s optional.

  • This is the best one, IMHO. I’d want to make it painful.
