  • Definitely plan to listen to my body as much as possible. I have a tendency to overwork myself when it comes to exercise. But hopefully running is a bit easier to judge.

  • Thanks! Yeah I think eating will be the most annoying thing for me to do. I’m bad at eating enough. And good to know about walking. I kinda thought if it comes down to it, walking isn’t too bad to bring my HR down. I’m using Brooks Ghost Max 3 right now and I like them so far but I don’t have much to compare them to. Saucony Triumph was my first running shoe. They honestly don’t feel too different. Lots of cushion.

  • I’ve been almost exclusively running on concrete lol. Though there is a HS track very close so I can do that more. It’s just so boring. Luckily I haven’t had any shin splint pain and I’ve gotten to easy 5k’s so it’s looking good so far.

One thing I haven’t looked into is the best way to hydrate/fuel during a run. I haven’t gotten to a point where that’s necessary as long as I prepare properly. But I’m pretty sure anything over 10K it’s a good idea to bring something. which means I should probably buy something to hold stuff

  • Thanks a lot! I really hope I don’t shit myself. That sounds awful lol

  • Running @lemmy.world

How do u train for a marathon?

  • Thanks! Yeah i was searching the internet for other ragdoll pics at various months and that’s what I came to with. Of course they’re all different, but I think the range is 4-8 months. So i’ll just pick an easy date to remember that falls in there.

Love the pic of your cats on the stairs btw:)

  • Challenge accepted. It’s only been one week so far… I guess my ideal plan right now is two days on, one day off. Every 6th run will be a higher intensity run and the rest will be zone 2 minimum 5 kilometers. Aside from noticing a slow change in my workouts, my average resting heart rate should hopefully consistently decrease.

  • I should’ve included her current size. Not sure how to add pics to the post. No idea how much she weighs in those first pics but currently she looks like this and weighs 11.3 pounds.

The pics in the post are 3.5 years ago.

  • This is what she looks like 3.5 years later

  • She does look elderly I suppose lol but she’s def under a year here. Was just trying to figure out her birth month

  • Oh.. I was thinking like 4 months… lol I’m trying to figure out her birthday month

  • cats @lemmy.world

How old do you think this ragdoll is? Current pic of her is in the comments which is 3.5 years after these pics. She’s currently 11.2 pounds.

  • Ah yes proper fueling is something I never actually do on purpose. Definitely need to come up with a routine that includes that. It definitely does feel counter intuitive that slow runs help you run farther faster.

  • Yeah I’m sure my real max is higher. Going by my age, it’s 184. But pretty sure I can hit 200. So I guess I should make it 200, but i haven’t hit that in a long time. Figured using 194 is better than 184.

I have an Apple Watch so cant do the lactate threshold thing.

Sounds good. Just did another 5K keeping my average at 148bpm. 10-minute/mile pace. Relatively fast cadence. My main method of slowing down is lowering my stride but I think I’m keeping the same cadence as my faster runs. I guess time will tell if this is working.

How did you train to get your heart rate lower?

  • Interesting. I wouldn’t be surprised if the conclusion is true, but they should’ve adjusted the carbs proportional to body weight. And the whole distance covered changes things. Also it just makes sense that a smaller athlete (assuming based on averages) would be able to endure longer.

  • She’s about 4 years old I think. Adopted her a couple years ago.

    Enjoying her outdoor time.
