  • Huh, I'm surprised that so many people in the thread don't like raspeball. I am not native, but my partner is and his grandma makes the most delicious raspeball. The whole family looks forward to it every year, they eat it a few days after Christmas. Too salty and cardboard sounds like it was badly made.

  • Yeah, in Scandinavia you just say "you" or use a person's name when referring to somebody else. Or their job title if it fits the context. You can really feel that you're not "below" anybody, we all deserve the same level of respect and the language reflects that. Additionally, you don't need to guess anybody's gender if you're not sure, avoids uncomfortable situations.

  • We have free sitting at our office, so I sit in different floors throughout the workweek and sometimes get "the bad chair" if all the good ones are taken. It sucks. I would rather be in a cubicle.

  • I didn't ask AI to generate new icons, but to extract SVG code from individual icons wee decided to use and migrate my existing icon components to the new SVG code. It's monkey work and I wanted to see if it could manage.

  • Huh, interesting. I've been to Sicily on a student exchange. My experience was totally different, but it's maybe because I didn't stay in Palermo. I've been to Taormina and other smaller towns. It was beautiful, both the towns themselves, the nature, the weather and the view of the sea. These local towns are old and mafe for pedestrians, so almost no cars. All the local shops are run by mom and pop and everybody knows each other. They invite whoever is walking by the shop to eat lunch together. We took the bus from my host's home to the neares town and we drove through lavender fields, it was amazing.

    Not to say your experience wasn't genuine, but it sounds like it's Palermo that wasn't very pleasant, not Sicily in general. I would definitely recommend the smaller towns.

  • Most people I know that have the type in the op also have the one in your comment or robot one, and usually live in larger houses with multiple floors. The smaller one gets used for"small jobs", the larger one/robot for weekly cleaning. I live in northern Europe.

  • Yeah, the modern society teaches us that if we have any problems, be it health, financial or anything else, it's all fixable and we are supposed to fix it. Yet there is so much we don't have control over. Mental health problems are especially hard to tackle, as there are so few options, they are expensive, time consuming and often don't really help.

  • That's what my partner used to say to me before he got the diagnosis. It sounded as if he never had any thoughts in his head. It put a strain on our relationship too, because he used to answer this those times I noticed he wasn't listening while I was talking and asked what he was thinking about. Sometimes it seemed like he didn't care at all.

    Turns out he has too many thoughts in his head, and "nothing" was indeed the easiest answer. I guess it doesn't really matter what the truth is to a random person, but it does matter to your friends and family.
