  • How hard do you think it would be to make a custom oversized keyboard PCB? I have real thick fingers, a 3d printer, and zero electronics experience.

  • Y'know, it's funny, I'm planning a yard sale soon. I'm only putting up signs nearby so I mostly get my neighbors, and I'm not really planning on charging much for anything because I'm mostly using it to get to know my neighbors and build community, because getting to know my neighbors is more valuable to me than making more money. It's funny how the right is almost a dark mirror of the left.

  • Y'know, I think I could believe that cars kill more people than sharks even at sea.

  • That's just generally what I would do when passing someone at night. Polite acknowledgement, keep walking.

  • I'd go with "Evening" over "Hello". The latter signals that you're trying to initiate a conversation, the former is just friendly acknowledgement.

  • Is this what monogamy is like?

  • My father was pretty draconic. No time for friends, no time for extra curriculars, no time for homework (he didn't believe in public education, which caused its own problems), because there was always something to do: my chores, my siblings' chores, home improvement projects, random "educational" outings that were mostly just me sitting in the car. Not to mention the verbal and physical abuse, leaving me on the side of the road to "scare me straight", making me live in a tent in the backyard for a while.

I tried to be the bigger person after I moved out and practice hippy-dippy radical forgiveness. Unfortunately, he's a malignant narcissist and even when he realized he had no leverage anymore and had to behave, he was still a really really bad influence. The more time I spent with him, the more his traits rubbed off on me. I had to cut him off entirely because it became too much.

  • In the mid-19th century, a "toaster" which bore any resemblance to cleavage wouldn't be invented for at least 50 years.

  • Oh hey we're complements. I needed to call a friend to help set up my email, but I can at least get you started on pretty much any hardware store question

  • Pretty hard to predict. 10,000 years ago humans were just starting to figure out agriculture, animal husbandry, and pottery. Today, technology is advancing exponentially. If we keep up this trajectory, we'd basically be gods with unfathomable control over ourselves and our environment. If something interrupts this trajectory, we could find ourselves back in the stone age, or extinct.

  • My cat accepts being picked up for about 10 seconds or so to get a good look around before protesting. If my wife comes over while he's up and starts petting/grooming him, she has about the same 10 seconds before he puts his paw up to say "Enough of that."

  • Hard to choose between:

I once had a life, or ratherLife had meI was one among manyOr at least I seemed to be

Can You Get to That - Funkadelic

  • Altoids Sours, specifically the mango ones. Those were my absolute jam. Probably for the best, in regards to the structural integrity of my hard palate.

  • there is literally no way to use logic to infer existence of god.

    I suggest you read Spinoza.

  • I can see the value of data networks. If every car on the road is self driving and interconnected, they know where every other car is and can cooperatively adjust their speed and routes to basically eliminate traffic. Even if it's just every car in a taxi fleet, they can still share their sensor data to build a better operating map from multiple angles. The privacy side of that is rough, but it could drastically reduce accidents compared to individual human drivers.

  • Half to student loans, the other half to home improvement.

  • Is this the one you use to feed the house from a generator? If so, I think that's the one time it's valid
