  • It's a reference to a quote by Ernest Rutherford. The idea being that every science except physics essentially reduces to categorization, and at the core is physics.

Basically the same idea as this

  • How about an alternate universe where Lincoln wasn't shot and was actually able to follow through on Reconstruction? Hell, I'd take the alternate universe where 2000 wasn't stolen from Gore and we actually took climate change seriously.

  • I learned about them after using "skinhead" in a derogatory way to a music buff. That was the same conversation where I learned that ska is actually older than reggae, which is still wild to me.

  • Yeah MoE seems like basically exactly what they're describing. Train individual models to be specialized in specific tasks, and string them together under a central coordinating model.

  • That might actually get people around the world to pressure their leaders to take action against the USA. From what I understand about most of the rest of the world, soccer is taken very seriously.

  • Is this a reference to The Filth?

  • Por que no los dos? Layer of spray foam, top it off with a foot or so of concrete.

  • Again, beyond the scope of my expertise. Most of my experience is all trunk, no frunk. Still, a good deep puppy pose should do the trick for all but the largest frunks.

  • That is a separate consideration beyond my expertise.

  • Hackers could do something hilarious

  • Eh, from the perspective of Nature that's kinda just how it goes. Honestly it's pretty noble that we bother thinking about it at all. Mosquitoes don't feel conflicted about spreading malaria, and they've probably killed more animals than us. Fungus doesn't feel conflicted about killing plants. More than trillions of animals and plants have suffered and died entirely because of the actions of the rest of Nature.

Species come and go, but the overall ecosystem recovers. We aren't the first species to wipe out other species, we won't be the last. Trying to be better is good, but let's not pretend Nature is some gentle shepherd.

  • At that point it's a failure in technique on the part of the cheek-haver. With the proper arch it's a non-issue.

  • False equivalence. Palestine was fucked either way, and Harris winning was probably the better outcome of the two. No outcome was going to stop the genocide, so it's not particularly relevant to the choice. Except that the outcome we got was almost certainly the worse one.

Trans people and immigrants did have outcomes that were radically different based on who won. The choice changed the outcome, so it was relevant

  • If you can get the tomahawk for a little more, it makes sense for grilling, you can ditch the tongs. Plus then that marrow gets r o a s t e d, and can become a scrumptious broth.

  • I only really run one, but I'd be ecstatic if someone made a good recommendation for a related community.

  • Sincerity and inconvenience, I reckon. A vow you don't plan to keep is useless, as is one that you were probably gonna do anyway.

  • ITS. I WAS

I all these clinging onto! Is this?

  • That one popped up on my radar, but I typically tilt toward hobbies which are literally productive.
