    Even if there is a major catastrophic, people in the Roman or medieval era made it to 80, it was less common than today, but wasn't unheard of either

  • Many actually don’t, they don’t convert (much) the capital to money, so they avoid capital gain-tax (which tends to have exception for business owner and long term holder), often they use company asset (like an average worker gets a phone, a laptop and sometimes a car, but they get a boat, a jet, and a nice house on the company budget), borrow money against stock, and actually don’t need that much of their actual money (remember that a billion is huge we don’t talk about getting a nice house, and a private jet, but multiple airliner, and a brand-new top notch hospital in the centre of an expensive city, including all worker wage for a while).

    This is why so many people support a net worth tax like if you pay less than 2% of your net worth in regular tax, then you get an extra tax to reach these 2%

  • Forcing players to basically not be able to win until they do arbitrary failures and reload would make for an annoying and frustrating experien

    The thing is that is would be a better emulation of RPG if you couldn't reload at every death. The main difficulty is to have multiple story path which would lead to different outcome rather than a real win.

  • Accountinq/management should adapt to the company way of working and not the other way around. I've seen project getting split in a way making no sense technically speaking, and product getting senseless names/reference but this is how SAP works, and accounting needs it that way

  • Platform like LinkedIn learning, on books no matter whether it's about programming or management (or any other field, may be you want to learn material science or Korean). Usually, these ones are pretty tolerated by HR, especially if you can find even a remote link to your work. I would add fun side projects on work data/material, that you can use to get promoted (not only I am doing my job but I am experimenting with XYZ, meaning I should be at the next puygrude)

  • Had a similar issues, and could contact a mod with an alt account to get unbanned, but indeed looks like they used a nuke to kill a Goblin.

    Also, I still don't get the point for bot to post "engaging content". At worst it's a bit too cliché you wake up in the body of the last person you ask with or too rage-baity Say something good or bad about Israel but it's not like karma is worth something here.

  • My problem isn't much GPU dying, or getting not powerful enough, but that as we work in a "certified environment", everyone sourcing can't procure anymore a GPU model, we can't just buy the next generation and assume it works, but have to run an extensive list of test, then update documentations including list of supported GPU per system version(especially for service) .

    Basically, it's the kind of stuff where you can loose a lot of time (and which isn't always high on priority list) so feel like as soon as we finally approved the usage of a GPU version, we have our suplier telling us it's not available anymore. I would love to have a GPU manufacturer offering 10-15 years of market availability (Like we get for FPGA) .

  • On the bright side, there is actual number behind the nvidia stock hype, but n the down side, will the need for GPU stay so high for long enough for nvidia to pay the massive investment to keep up with production? Or will they end up with empty factories in 2 years?

  • My main issue is that, the life cycle of their entreprise grade GPU are way too short (and the gaming one are worse) . My job involve some obsolescence management and while the GPU obsolescence isn't the most complicated one, while we finished system validation on a GPU generation it's already time for purchasing to send a last buy order

    Also curious of what the other segment really is
