  • Oh yeah. Now that you mention it I had heard that before. Ah well, it woulda made a good anecdote.

  • The Rest is History. Good banter between the hosts. Huge backlog on a variety of topics.

Origin Story. This one might be a little outside your wheelhouse, or might not, depending on what you're after. Specifically, it talks about the origins (and thus the history) mostly of political ideologies like neoliberalism and zionism, political figures like Thatcher, Churchill, and Jordan Peterson, and movements or terms like the Suffragettes and the term "woke".

  • Wasn't the music they used pirated too?

  • Yeah I also expect MS will see W11's poor uptake (iirc, W10 actually increased market share over the last 12 months) and will see it as necessary to extend. Probably more to reduce the risk of bad press from a serious security incident, rather than because they're afraid people will switch to Linux.

  • I'm more surprised at PewDiePie, tbh. Jason runs a Mastodon instance, with the account notjustbikes@notjustbikes.com (I'm hoping that by leaving out the @ sign before the local username, that won't send him an unwanted notification), so the fact that he's also a Linux user is less surprising. I don't watch PDP, but I gather he has a very large and impressionable audience, so him promoting Linux should be good!

  • Ok I love bike lanes now

Ok but if you haven't already, you really should watch the channel's videos. They're insanely good, and show why good city design is good for bikes, but it's not just bikes.

  • Fwiw Occam's razor is actually a little more precise than "choose the simplest explanation". Specifically, it defines what "simplest" actually means, in such a way that makes it easier to see how you could describe Hanlon's razor as a special case of Occam's.

Occam's razor is that you should choose the solution which requires the fewest assumptions. Assuming someone made a mistake is precisely one assumption. That they were acting maliciously requires several, including having the motive to do it and, in a case involving large organisations, having the capability to cover it up.

  • Umbrella Academy was a hate watch for me. I loved the experience of watching it with my sister, even though I absolutely detested the show itself. Every single one of the characters is just the worst fucking person with zero redeeming qualities, and they somehow just get worse as the show goes on.

  • I tried many times and I did always like it, but for some reason I never felt the urge to finish the first season.

Ooh, me too. I got more than one season on my second attempt, but I'm honestly not sure how much more. Definitely didn't get through 3 full seasons. I enjoyed it, but...just not enough to go out of my way to keep watching it.

  • To edge their bets? 😳

  • Because Elon wanted it. Vance doesn't have an ounce of initiative in his body. He doesn't need a reason other than his boss asked him.

  • The pope goes by AD&D druid rules. The new pope is the guy who killed the previous pope.

    So it's J D Vance.

  • It’s a common practice in Northern VA for churches to hold worship services in schools on the weekends

For free? I'm aware of church organisations hiring out school halls here in Australia, but they're hiring them, for the same rate that a sports club or other hobby group would.

  • Aww she gorgeous!

  • It's also the name of the shark in the survival crafting game Raft.

  • Yeah it was easy for me, because I recall that I first watched it in 2013, and binging all 4 seasons that then existed in a pretty quick timeframe. So I knew it had to be pretty close one way or the other. It ended up extremely close to that "less than half of a season", with 12 out of 25 episodes of season 1 being in 2009.

  • Community had less than half a season in the '00s, so calling it an '00s show sitcom seems a bit of a stretch.

  • Why wouldn't you have just loaded it into the transporter buffer and then wiped the pattern (or beamed it harmlessly into space), Mr O'Brien?
