Nano has syntax highlighting out of the box IIRC. I've used it for programming in a pinch but no, it's nowhere near as extensible as VSCode or Vim. It's a text editor, not an IDE
The best alternative I found was CopyQ, but I did have to write some custom automation scripts to move the window into position and close it when clicking away
Oh trust me, I'm no fan of Samsung, but I tend to value control of my devices over...whatever it is Apple does. I had an iPhone until I discovered replacing the home button myself artificially bricked the device due to DRM forcing customers to go to an Apple store for repairs. Never again
As far as I know, nearly all flagship phones, Apple or otherwise, get about 7 years of update support (except Pixel phones with GrapheneOS which get 14 ignore; I remembered this incorrectly).
The difference is, even my old phone running Android 8 (a 9yo OS) can still browse the web, run all apps, and perform fine as a phone. An even older phone running Android 4.4 can still run 3rd party apps. iPhones seem to stop working about a year after they stop receiving updates, and they don't support sideloading (also know as running the software you want to run on the device you own).
Or just use QEMU/KVM wirh VirtIO extensions if you don't need hardware rendering on Windows. Problem is most dual-booters I know use Windows to play games with kernel anti-cheat. Not much you can do to virtualize that
The product in this article (Precursor) is not the same as what Lemmy instances use (Turnstile). Turnstile uses the same cryptographic proof-of-work puzzle as Anubis and does not track any of these other metrics. If you see a CAPTCHA-style "Verified" message with Cloudflare's logo, you're seeing Turnstile, not Precursor.

IIRC it was mainly backlash for them integrating Microsoft ads without tracker blocking. They did walk it back after public backlash, though they still use Microsoft ads, just anonymously.
That and their recent generally AI-positive messaging has alienated anti-AI people, but they seem to be walking some of that back too.
To me it feels like they are generally good, but somewhat out of touch with their userbase, which causes a blunder here and there. They're also a US-based organization, so make of that what you will.
Personally I still use the NoAI version of DDG because no EU-based alternatives have feature parity yet.
As someone who worked at a park district, this is 100% true and such a big problem. Those fuckers grow to be like 18 inches long and have thousands of babies.
Someone dumped a couple they got at a fair into one of our ponds and within a few years they were nearly the only life left in the entire pond. They eat anything and everything in their path and decimate local ecosystems. They're the freahwater equivalent of locusts.
We ended up electrifying the entire pond, scooping them all up, and rebuilding the whole natural ecosystem back up from scratch. You can't do that with a lake tho
