  • We talk less and less about how we're actually feeling, everyone just says "I'm fine" even when they're not. So I built a tool to make social energy levels visible between friends without needing the conversation.

    Hmm, isn't this kinda ironic?

Seems like an interesting concept, but unless something like this is integrated into the platform which they are using to communicate, I doubt people would use it much.

And I think I would just leave mine on 0% permanently lol

  • TempleOS

  • Everyone suggests Peertube here, yet nobody uses it.

I think the biggest problem is that it's not integrated nicely. Only Piefed and maybe some Lemmy apps have an embedded player, which allows you to play the video without leaving the site. But most people will still have to open the link in a new tab, which is especially inconvenient on mobile apps. When I see a Peertube link, most of the time I don't even bother opening it. Another issue is that if you want to upload a video, you first have to find a good instance and then create an account to do so.

And even then, OP was looking for a site that allows direct linking (which would play natively in every app), something that Peertube does not allow. And most of the sites he mentioned, allow uploading without an account.

So I think that Peertube is not a good suggestion here. At least not yet.

  • Yeah it sucks, and you cannot get good search results anywhere. Not that you have many different options anyways...

Lemmy search is only searching for exact text you searched for. There is somewhat useful option to search only post titles.

Piefed search at least has some filters (nsfw, post type, instance software, minimum score...) and search operators (and, or, not...) but it doesn't have the search only post titles option.

Sometimes searching in google and just appending "lemmy" to your query will give surprisingly good result and sometimes it will return nothing.

Searxng has the search !bang for lemmy posts !lepo, which gives more or less the same results as lemmys search.

  • How viable would that be? Can it also just run in the background like the actual app?

  • Would it be possible to run Syncthing in Termux?

  • Oh shit. What do now.

  • I think you might have downloaded a fake Newpipe...

  • I use Linkding too, it's very light and it's great, I only wish it had the exclude tag filter and no tag filter. That would make it perfect.

  • I'd lose that one day after buying it.

  • What are those?

  • memes @lemmy.world

    We do a little shopping

  • I kinda started using lemmy less lately. I shall fix that!

  • Ask Lemmy @lemmy.world

Do you think kids should be prohibited from using social media? If yes, how should it be done? If no, why?

  • Fediverse @lemmy.world

Mastodon's federation consistency is laughably bad. confusing.

  • It's one guy posting all of those xD

  • It's not. The oldest one I found on TinEye is before AI (2014) . It just got so jpeg'd over time that the line in the rock looks like a finger.

  • Most mobile apps can, and on desktop I found these 2 methods that I mentioned in the comments here. Maybe you find it useful.

  • Lemmy @lemmy.ml

Add "Create an account" button on join-lemmy server picker page

  • Well I don't use either of those platforms, I was just curious. I just shared what I observed, I guess it does sound like a complaint.Mostly disappointed that there even is a need for such a thing.

  • So all 3 people on the whole bluesky who even know they can do that or give any fuck about mastodon.

  • So you can't interact at all, or see bluesky comments or anything. It's basically as if you subscribed to an RSS feed. Pretty useless no?

Never really understood the appeal of twitter-like platforms anyway.
