  • It is an important topic - don't wanna get your boy pregnant by accident. Thorough research is a must

  • I would actually love Proton to spin up a service for age verification that actually does just that. Be it only to see how fast governments start complaining when they tell them they don't have any data on their users...

  • I don't want my stuff streamed to even a small company. I'm talking OSS and local processing. I'm mostly into it for AR with smartphone integration, I wouldn't mind having no mics and no option to permanently store any images of that thing

  • Why would I? For AR you need mostly spatial data and you can drop the rest. Actual image data is more interesting for stuff like live translation - but it is well within my own interest to not have this stuff send anywhere.

    If you want to avoid eyes and ears everywhere in genral, I have bad, smartphone shaped news for you

  • I'm all down for smart glasses, I just don't want anything megacorp on them. If they are to have mics and cams, I want those for AR and voice commands, not to stream me taking to piss to creepy Zuck and his pervert friends.

  • PH itself is not even that terrible - but companies use the cheapest metal you can find to make the worst possible screws with it

  • We all know that IRL they would have just killed all 3 plus a random bystander

  • Didn't they kill their video generator?

  • I tried to get some crows to like me (and scare off the pigeons), so put some some nuts on my balcony. Sadly they're too skittish to come near me. I know this is basically a good thing but... Why fren shaped :(

  • There is this thing called trolling and users with such names might be into that sort of activity.

    You can report them anyway of course, but for me it's really about what people do and say, not what they name themselves.

  • There are the Linux Foundation certs, some of which (e.g. Certified Sysadmin) are well respected, relatively hard to get, and also very expensive. There are some cheap and some free ones as well, but I don't know if recruiters care about them at all. They are just a formal way of showing 'I know

    <thing>

    ' instead of you just saying it after all.

    Depending on your domestic laws you may be able to deduct them from tax, or even get some kind of government subsidy for doing them. I would look into that if you wanna go after the really expensive ones.

    There is also Red Hat, I don't know if those are worth it thought. Probably not the worst to have either.

  • I am entirely aware of that, but that's my bosses problem really :D

    I don't think they will do anything about it except cancelling the service thought. I don't know what you would sue for, except for penalties agreed upon in the contract, which I don't remember seeing.

  • We just bought everyone individual Claude Max subscribtions (Anthropic has done nothing about it so far lol). The most expensive tier is 200$/M I think - that's already much more than most people could possibly spend in tokens.

    I am more than happy with the 100$ tier. For a business, that's a rounding error. Given the productivity boost, I'd say it's a no-brainer (although you should train your people on it as well).

  • I'm sure there is some biology joke in there I don't get. Like, there is a Blue Tailed Poisonfrogeater or sonething... Works for me anyway tho :D

  • Especially considering that is makes zero sense to pay extra, since you can literally go out and buy any other computer instead.

    Just need to install Steam OS after

  • Who needs facts when you can have "mechanical artistry" and "thermal mastery"

  • The neat thing is: It's a record high. It was literally never this hot before.

    Not that these discussions are about facts at all, but now you have one to confront them with.

  • Conputer scientist who have to name so much variables on a daily basis that all creativity is drained from them

    (Seriously, it's hard to give stuff names that 1) cannot be confused with existing names 2) still describe what

    <stuff>

    does and 3) don't sound stupid)

  • I would ask her parents for approval and spend as much as I feel comfortable doing. Which is definitely below 10k, because at that point I would worry about someone walking up and just chopping her hand of (or following us home, maybe slightly more reallistic).

    I think plain gold rings are fine. Otherwise just anything that looks decent. Rule of thumb: Your wedding rings shouldn't dictate your outfits.

    I just realized you said 'engagement', not 'wedding'. What the actual fuck man.
