Damn, 50TB is not that much to depend on an external vendor, especially for archival purposes. Even I have ~40TB clanker disks shoved on my NAS at home.
They’re trying hard to look like “good guys” ahead of their IPO.
Everybody heard their recent breakup with Pentagon but ignoring they were happily engaged with the War Machine before the breakup. They’re still serving Palantir, Blackrock, NSA and god knows who else.
While it’s a very cool project, running a gaming setup on a Docker container felt very clunky to me. Somehow I fear it would add latency (input or output), then again even if so it should be negligible.

On a second note, EV sounds totally hackable over software but no one is paying much attention yet. OTA updates also possible.

As a NAS owner of 5 years now, I’d definitely go with a DAS + a MiniPC, preferably with UnRaid on it.
And when buying high capacity HDDs check video reviews for their loudnesses. Some aren’t quite fit for Living Room usage as they often ROAR AND TREMBLE.
If there’s any silver lining to this, fuck JavaScript, fuck JavaScript wrappers and fuck all people picked JavaScript for the programming language of anything cross-platform.
It’s unbelievable I would need 6 gbs of RAM to say a simple “hello” to my friends. It used to take 300kb with IRC.
