"The future ain’t what it used to be."

-Yogi Berra

  • Ai coding ultimately is a more expensive way of doing things and, potentially, might be industry catastrophic in the long run. Which is fine because by and large the software industry is solutions looking for answers

  • You know I almost fucking appreciate it. Because it's important to me that this farce of an administration not be taken over serious, other than as something to be replaced and forgotten

  • Do you think the stools would have been able to handle it?

  • I don't think the belong in the Lemmy community. I don't mean any particular Lemmy community, I mean all of the Lemmy communities.

I think they've shown that they don't have a place on the fediverse.

  • 🥹👉👈

Whoa! What the hell are you doing? Are you trying to get your self out on a list?

  • Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale in the background, so hot right now.

  • Oh CNN is already pumping out hand-wringing anti-Jackson pseudo hit pieces.

He threw a waterbottle in a session about prescription drug prices and another senator took that personally..

  • Just because you haven’t personally seen the email to the therapist from 2019 doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Just because you haven’t personally spoken to these witnesses doesn’t mean their testimony doesn’t exist.

No one is saying that, but the point is to understand forms of evidence and what they take. The point is that:

I bet she would have called it rape

Isn't any more evidence than we've already been presented with. Its still an allegation.

Platner is welcome to sue either Politico or CNN and allow this to work through the courts. Journalists vet these sources thoroughly before publishing articles like these.

I completely agree and if their denial is as strong as they made it out to be, they should sue. Right now, at all levels, the current reporting has been less than shoddy. This interview with Mika Brzezinski show exactly why we should be expecting stronger evidence than what we've been presented with so far:

    https://www.mediaite.com/media/tv/mika-brzezinski-grills-politico-reporter-behind-platner-bombshell-for-concrete-rape-evidence-whats-the-throughline/

The Politico reporting genuinely isn't where it needs to be to meet the level of journalistic integrity it should have. At the same time the accusations have all the hall marks of credibility. And also there is the real possibility that this could have been a politically motivated hit job; this was already attempted once and shown not to not meet a high standard for credibility (the NYT reporting). And also the was no practical opportunity for the Platner campaign to respond before Washington DNC leadership effectively decided to deliver a deathblow to the campaign in practically minutes, and immediately executed on a process which practically excluded the people of Maine from deciding who their candidate should be.

Their are many competing narratives and continue to be. I think right now, there has been so much dust kicked into the air we don't really know what happened. We will, eventually, but right now, we don't.

And I think in times of uncertainty, its a very human tendency to grab onto one thing, decide its true, and to then deal with the consequences of it being wrong later. What is much more challenging is to hold onto the uncertainty and intentionally not decide what the truth is until more information becomes available.

  • There’s evidence, don’t lie.

I'm not lying and we've had this conversation in depth in the past. And I'll repeat it again to headline the point, that in general i find the accusation to be credible.

But the air of credibility itself is not a form of evidence. The accuser deleted all contemporaneous digital messaging which could directly verify the claims, and has acknowledged as such. The one contemporaneous record from the time is insinuating an issue: not a direct accusation. All material the accuser has been able to provide which does confirm a direct accusation is recent material. No other persons the accuser has named as being able to substantiate these claims has been willing to go on record.

Right now, with the evidence which has been made available, it is a claim. Its an accusation with the hallmarks of credibility but with no material evidence to back it up.

If you have additional evidence or I'm out-of-the-loop, more than happy to adjust. But I'll maintain that currently, its a matter of he-said-she-said.

  • *probably

Yep. But still an allegation with no material evidence.

  • *allegedly

  • The entire e administration as well as ice should be put into camps after this is said and done.

  • And people say that Washington cant get anything done these days
