  • That shit keeps happening to me. It's a new scam they're running. I know because I keep changing companies due to it. Each time they pretend that's just how much insurance costs now, or try to blame it on me moving (each time to a lower crime area). Then I find another company that's offering me slightly more than I paid last term- the kind of increase you (unfortunately) expect from these vultures. But now those old standard increases have become not enough. Seriously had these sons of bitches try to raise my insurance rates 50-200% multiple times in a row, multiple companies doing the same shit. This ought to be investigated by a government agency and multibillion dollar fines issued. Instead, it's just "how it is" now in America.

  • What

  • Thanks!

  • Haha yeah that's where my head went too

  • themselves immortal

    lulz

  • Ah, makes sense why this way of speaking feels so gross to me

  • Hah I do have a backlog for sure. I probably would've bought something this go round but I was out of town for most of that sale

  • Does never watch/listen to count?

  • Disagreeing with your naivity is not the same as agreeing with everyone else who disagrees with you.

  • Now you're just making up shit that I supposedly believe. The far more likely explanation for them doing this is "whatever reason they have at the time for not liking someone".

  • Believing without questioning some shit you read on the Internet is the last thing I would call rational

  • Guessing you checked the list for your name again right before posting this lol

Why would you believe that reasoning? This guy is your friend or something?

  • What is this reference? I keep seeing it but I don't have the context for it

  • It was a lot of different ways of claiming these are users that would "scare off normal people". But I've seen several users comment that they were on the blocklist but barely ever comment or say anything controversial and I tend to believe them. Also a lot of the regexes were pretty random. Some are strict perfect matches while others randomly allow digits to follow the username, which was the case with mine.

  • I'm not sure "sane" is the best word for us generally 😂

But I get your point and agree with it

  • This is the correct take, and I kinda hate many things AI is doing.

  • Did you read his statement on this topic? He had a whole host of reasons and not all of the blocklist can be explained by them imo

  • Well imo, on lemmy anyhow, they do get a million times more recognition. Everyone is in the cult of Mint, which is one of the few I tried briefly and actively did not like it.

  • Hmm alright. I too dislike some things about Ubuntu but on the other hand you cannot blame people (myself included) who either have tried other distros and had support issues and came back to Ubuntu based, or those who just want the easier route to begin with. Ubuntu-based seems to be a good compromise for many. I've also used arch and fedora and had more headaches and breakages on those. Also I literally have a laptop that gets supported on Ubuntu so it makes life easier all around. Fuck some of the things canonical does but I just do not want to spend time with things like fixing my wifi connection after running pacman -S install or whatever that command is.
