  • Not timezones related, but i found California to be a work hard/play hard culture. You're 100% on 8 - 5 and then all off, but still very active. Lots of people would go surfing or biking before work. Fruit stands and good fresh food and wine options made for frequent gatherings and much less 'chill alone at home' time. Nice free nature activities so almost every weekend= beach or mountains. That was pre-covid, in our 20's, and with young kids, so that was part of the activity too.

    How far did you go with your studies and are you satisfied with it?

  • Quit college after 3 years. Kids, marriage, and random jobs. Had an injury and found a healthcare interest during treatment and hydrocodone (made me extra chatty and i asked everyone there about their jobs and education). Associates degree in that and am on my 17th year. Fun, but I'm tired of the bureaucracy and looking forward to retiring in 5 years, if my knee holds up and they don't piss me off too much before then.

  • Last year i learned about their running in circles dance. I watched a bunch of videos on it. Now everytime my son goes to a show i need a report on the dancing and random antics.

  • Friend met her husband at the baggage claim. He helped with her bag and they chatted while she waited for her ride. That didn't start flirty; just with someone who needed help and someone who was willing to offer help.

  • It sounds silly, but you could try volunteering. I grew up with just my mom and we didn't have much $. She used to spend part of Thanksgiving and/or Christmas working at a 'soup kitchen'. Making the time better for other people can make it better for you too. Also, you might meet other single people.

  • My son worked for vape wild. His favorite part was talking to people about how to use vapes and custom fluids to quit smoking. Then they had a huge investment from one of the cigarette companies and it all went downhill.
