  • Trump is a huge grudge-holder. Musk probably is as well. This is a political marriage of convenience that will fall apart again as soon as they are done using each other. And at that point the recriminations and insults will fly again.

  • I see a good amount of stuff here. Sorting by New and even just looking at Local shows plenty. (Once you get your language option set, like several others have already said).

    I mean, it's quite a lot quieter overall than reddit. Especially on niche topics. But I think that's okay. Quality over quantity. And IMO it's still busy enough to spend your time if you cast your topic net wider. Plus, at least here you don't have to put up with reddit's shitty policies and constant monetizing/farming user data.

  • The US government going all out to destroy the renewable energy industry. I knew the coal and oil industries would lobby like crazy, to their death. But I naively thought that once we hit the critical point where renewable are more cost efficient than fossil fuels even the conservatives would begrudgingly start pivoting towards them.

    Every time I hear solar being belittled by a government official, or wind turbine referred to absurdly as cancer-causing windmills by a certain fake-tan narcissist, it reinforces the sad realization that our country is filled with ignorant people, and our planet is being destroyed purely to stroke the egos and fatten the wallets of the ultra rich.
