  • Narcissists will never voluntarily do therapy. The brain is a simple organ. It only learns new things by being surprised, when something unexpected happens. This has to be repeated over and over again to have an effect.

I'd recommend you take a look at schema therapy and mention it because I recognise the emotional state that comes across in what you post. Schema therapy would talk about this as "angry child mode". Which is not intended to invalidate the very real reasons you have to be angry. It becomes a prison, isolation yourself from different parts that exist within you that could otherwise work in your favour to help you achieve what you want or better advocate for your needs.

Without the support of someone who knows what they're doing that angry child mode is a never-ending pit of despair and source of guilt.

  • This may be a source of unrealistic optimism when it comes to having better control over my own mental health symptoms but I'll take it.

  • I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't witnessed her do it yesterday and felt her body temperature change. I didn't know people were capable of that.

  • Ask Lemmy @lemmy.world

Can you change your body temperature at will?

  • All vaccine/ autism pseudoscience that saw prominence starting in the 90's based on one fraudulent paper written by a guy who claimed to be a doctor but was just straight up abusing kids to back up his claims and to sell his own product which was just MMR vaccine delivered in three seperate shots. Product developed before fraudulent paper.

  • Yeah but it's nothing scary or new. Was I the only one who watched those documentaries about the people who were emotionally and sexually committed to objects like cars and rollercoasters? Someone married the Eiffel tower. Been extremely isolated at different points in my life watching that stuff changed the way I view people. Like it made me kinder I think.

  • Do you know any international politics or national policy? As in what the country, in hand with the complicity of the middle class, has done to both it's own citizens and the rest of the world? For the entirety of its 300 year history?

    No?

Time to start learning perhaps. The people who do know are the people who will help you in crisis.

There's less than nothing in it for me to change your mind about anything. You're on Lemmy and you've had a great deal of opportunity to do so on your own time.

  • I won't police my thoughts, opinions and language to appease liberals and centrists and I won't trust anyone who thinks that our struggle rests on that kind of approach. Unless they gutterally get it they are not my ally.

  • I'm glad you're losing money, it brings me joy to see the middle class finally freaking out, even if it's for reasons that are utterly selfish and blind to the real struggles minorities have been facing for decades. Maybe if you buy gold instead?

  • God Lemmy is a shit hole now

  • Fuck your stocks. How many trans friends have you lost and did you even really care until it started affecting the economy. Fuck your stocks.

  • I've decided this is good and want a Lemmy that is restricted to just the nerdiest of nerds. These little spaces are cool without all those horrible reddit users.

  • Watch HBomber guy video on CAD

  • It's fascinating how Lemmy users view internet consumption habits as a reflection of personal ethics. You can't always hold other people to the standards you've achieved. Using and navigating Lemmy takes effort insight that the majority just don't have. Being alive also takes effort and can be very painful. Sometimes people just need to be able to turn off and zone out. Try not to place value judgements on the ways that other people do that.

  • Oh yeah, lifestyle changes will totally change the system, just look how far green capitalism got us /s. As far as I can tell, personal responsibility and guilt is a tool used very successfully by the oppressive classes. It's not progressive to point the finger at people who don't have the luxury of hand picking an "ethical profession"-something I'd love to see an example of? Find better targets to be angry at bud.

  • I feel like this trope should be applied to jobs outside of science. Like retail. Retail workers are just as prone to insanity and it's up to us to make that romantic and cool in similar ways. Also science outside of physics, like geology.
