I strongly disagree that Kirsten Stewart has an iota of talent as an actress. She has two emotions she expresses: sulky and panicky, and she does neither well. She was no better than her baseline in Underwater and that film wasn’t very good either IMO (and I love Cthulhu stuff).
However, I didn’t like Snow White and the Huntsman either. I saw it years ago but can’t really remember much about it, because I found rather bland. It wasn’t just Stewart’s milquetoast performance.
Without the cooperation of the victim, there’s likely little law enforcement can do about this. If she doesn’t want him prosecuted, that’s likely that.
Probably middle school. Not really an altercation, just the last time I can remember being violent. My school bully baited me with insults and the teacher ignored it. I snapped, picked up a student desk and hurled it across the room at him. Missed, but it scared him enough to shake him. I got a talking to by the school principal, but that bully never bothered me again.
My understanding was that it’s only legal under highly restricted conditions. If you’re just Joe Schmoe, you’re not going to be able to get a firearm just because you have no criminal history and no evidence of mental illness.
I know plenty of people on the Left who want to ban guns, European-style. They think anyone who owns one is partially psychopathic and have a fetish about killing things. You're right, they're probably in the minority, but I question by just how much. I don't think they're as fringe as some people would like to believe.
I’m a Democrat who values the 2nd amendment and doesn’t think we should just ban guns in the U.S. Stronger regulations and safety measures? Sure, absolutely. But I do think people should have the right to own and use firearms for recreation, hunting, personal protection, etc.
I agree, but only about the star of Earth in that series. The Epstein drive, protomolecule, even the colonization of Mars are all not guaranteed futures in my view. But if we keep going to way we are, yeah, I can see a 50+% unemployment rate and lots of brutalist architecture.
I also live in a very tourist-y area, but in the States, and without question the worst tourists are other Americans. I think when you're visiting another country, there's a certain amount of humility and respect that kicks in, because you know you're not on your own turf. When you're just visiting another part of your own country, that pressure doesn't kick in and it can leave you behaving like a bit of an entitled ass.
Back in my 20’s I was backpacking through Europe and had heard that Parisians were generally friendly to American tourists, but the one thing I was told was to start every conversation at least attempting to speak French. I did so, and everyone I spoke to either started speaking English or politely referred me to someone who did. There was only one incident I had there. I was ordering dinner in a restaurant and I asked the waiter what wine he recommended with the meal I’d ordered. This is a fairly common thing to do in America, but this poor waiter looked at me like I had just transformed into a 4th-dimensional kaleidoscopic entity before his very eyes. I mean, he totally froze, eyes wide, jaw slack. I immediately felt so bad that I just ordered the first red wine I saw on the list and the relief on his face was palpable, but he still looked shaken.
I think French people are just so familiar with wine that they can’t comprehend people who aren’t. If you ever visit France, do some basic research just so you don’t freak them out.
It has nothing to do with what he “would have” thought of Kirk. What’s established by his family’s testimony is that he broke from their conservative ideologies not long before his heinous act and expressed sympathy for Leftist views. Yes, he absolutely was Left-leaning, but came from a Right-wing family.
Ultimately, it doesn’t really matter. The statistics still show the Right-wing extremists are more violent on average, and by a long shot.
