TL;DR: Natural language is ambiguous. How much of it do we misunderstand?
There are many tools to reduce misunderstanding: feedback, rephrasing, definitions, etc., but it would be really cool if a standardized logical language (like loglan/lojban but actually well done lol) became the worldwide second language and lingua franca. That would help a lot in our increasingly vocal interactions with computers.
It's one thing to openly be a happy gay couple, and another going to excessive lengths to make sure everyone witnesses you as gay.
A minority will fight back, because no one can please everyone, but for most people, it's as annoying as straight/religious/republicans/etc. people making that trait their personality. We don't care, just make the world better by being happy with yourself.
This sums it up. That cool song you would like to know the name or artist? Bad luck if it wasn't popular. Where does x idiom come from? Wait until you're at home/the library.
You would have many of these unresolved questions for years, until some solved itself fortuitously.
