  • I think this is just a difference on the form, and not on the content.

When over half of the country is actually ducked in the ass because of either poor working conditions, womens absence of right, slavery, etc., saying "I don't think we should change anything" seems like a calm way to say "we disagree on how to improve the country" when really it's just saying "i want people to get fucked". Betterment, even little, of life for those people makes assholes say out loud the hate they could hide in the statu quo previously.

  • I'm not a technical person, so i don't really know, but from a blog i read about switching from lemmy to piefed, i guess there should be some problems :

I also changed the URL from jemmy.jeena.net to piefed.jeena.net because I don't want the other instances to be confused when suddenly a different software with different contents is available under the same domain. But I'm thinking to start up Lemmy and unsubscribe from all communities and to delete the one community I have on my Lemmy instance which has only very few subscribers.

That at least would be a somewhat clean way to dispose of this lemmy instance. Oh and I should return a 410 Gone to indicate that it's permanently gone.

  • I second DnD and Warhammer, and i'll add Magic the Gathering to this list

  • Well we could see Hulk as the opposite of us, humble mortals : we have penises nowhere but in our pants, he is penises everywhere but in his pants.

  • If you go for a tent, first don't forget the tent pegs, and then it's always comfortable having a tiny mallet to plant them, rather than using a rock or your bare hands.

  • I tried ZorinOS, thinking it would be a nice transition from Windows to Linux, but it's so nice i think i'll stick with it for a while. Classic Windows-like recommendation is Linux Mint, and if i'm not mistaken both are ubuntu-based, so you would take advantage of that knowledge

  • "Chatte" (female cat) is the equivalent of pussy in english.

"Poulet" (chicken) is a cop. "Poulette" (hen) is a rather disrespectful word for a women.

"Gorille" (gorilla) is a tall muscular person.

"Cochon" (pig) is someone filthy, especially in the sexual sense. (can be used as an adjective, "films cochons" are porn films).

"Canard" (duck) can be a newspaper, or a mistake when playing music.

"Levrette" (female greyhound) is the name for the doggy style sexual position.

"Vache" (cow) can be either someone mean, either a cop. The second case is rarely used except in the sentence "Mort aux vaches" (death to the cops) and probably comes from the Wache germanic root for Guardian, rather than the actual animal.

  • Y'all seem to think that those people only exist in one random Lemmy community and never use anything else.

Women getting too much and too bad male input is literally what leads to women only spaces, not the other way around. And yet they still get male input everywhere else. It's like thinking going to a Warhammer shop will radicalize you because they don't play poker there, it's not even stupid, it's absurd.

  • Yes

  • I enjoy your enthusiasm but

I highly recommend [...] to everyone

    and

It's not for the faint of heart.

are a bold choice of juxtaposed sentences.

  • I think the idea here is not to say that hiphop/rap does not talk about or even glorify drug use/violence/misoginy, but rather that most popular music styles do, in this specific case classic country.

  • Yup, seeing a french flag in a private context feels off, you immediately get the sense that whoever put it up has very intense feelings about the Motherland/Fatherland.

  • From the Wikipedia articles of chess and shatranj (old middle-east/south asia ancestor of chess), without checking their sources :

    • king, knight, rook and pawn move the same (except the initial 2 squares for the pawn, which were introduced later)
    • queen only moves one square at a time diagonally
    • bishop only moves two squares at a time diagonally (jumping over potential pieces)
  • I think i do not, but my gf loves raw cabbages and cannot stand it when it's cooked in any form.

  • Here is the main blog post that i remembered : it has a follow up, a more scientific version, and uses two other articles as a basis, so you might want to dig around what they mention in the introduction.

It is indeed a quite technical discovery, and it still lacks complete and wider analysis, but it is very interesting for the fact that it kinda invalidates the common gut feeling that llms are pure lucky random.

  • Oh yes, cost of training are ofc a great loss here, it's not optimized at all, and it's stuck at an average level.

Interestingly, i believe some people did research on it and found some parameters in the model that seemed to represent the state of the chess board (as in, they seem to reflect the current state of the board, and when artificially modified, the model takes modification into account in its playing). It was used by a french youtuber to show how LLMs can somehow have a kinda representation of the world. I can try to get the sources back if you're interested.

  • Actually, a very specific model (chatgpt3.5-turbo-instruct) was pretty good at chess (around 1700 elo if i remember correctly).

  • Law. I was pretty hyped up when i went to university to study it, but the more i learnt on the foundations of it and discovered the people it created, the more i hated it. Now I'm doing completely different things, and i'm glad my parents didn't force me to keep doing it.

  • Crêpes-party ! Cook a bunch of crêpes and prepare some stuff to put in : either salty (meats, cheeses, cream, smoked fish,...) or sweet (chocolate sauce, caramel, jelly, fruits spread, sugar,...). You can ask people what they like before hand, so that everyone has something they appreciate. If you need a vegan option, you can swap milk for plant milk and eggs for a mix of starch and water.

  • Technology @lemmy.world

US cuts may affect FOSS projects funding (F-Droid, Tor, Let's Encrypt, TailsOS)
