  • Who cares about ugly-looking assembly ? No one's gonna actually look at it, that's, like, the whole point of C. And I really doubt the plagiarism machine can somehow do better than a compiler. I'm gonna look this up

Edit : is it this one ? https://arxiv.org/html/2505.11480v1

  • I should rewatch Army of Darkness

  • Yeah but then organic chemistry was like "hold my Carbon" and we got this for cheap

  • Are there new handhelds in that form factor ? I love my steam deck but the PSPs were quite a bit more compact. Also, having tried both (PSP and vita) for a while, they felt like they had amazing build quality but idk if that's true. I definitely liked using them both anyway which is probably why people are keeping it alive.

I guess my main problem with them was that they were really expensive, in parts due to their gimmicky tech imo (UMD/back touch surface)

  • I watched so much illegally uploaded anime on old YouTube/Dailymotion... those were the days

  • Yeah I'm not saying these books are objectively uninteresting and useless and that they should be destroyed to feed some water-hungry plagiarism machine, but that is why they are not being re printed : barely anyone is buying them (despite them being rare)

  • Lots of them are uninteresting and useless to 99.99% of people IIRC (examples I saw in a French article a few months ago was very precise history of some random villages in Spain or something similarly ultra specific)

  • I still can't believe the guys who made Streets of Rage 4 got Sega to hand over the rights to some random french team.

(Well actually they weren't that random and iirc already made a ridiculously high quality modern release of some old Sega IP, I guess that's how they did it)

  • One of Sonic mania's lead devs is a notorious romhacker IIRC, and some other members of the team are modders too. They were hired by the one guy who knows what they're doing regarding sonic at Sega (can't remember his name right now) because he saw their passion and talent. It's one of the few good modern sonic games imo

Black Mesa is a HL1 fan remake. They realized halfway though that very long project that they couldn't sell it so they went to Gabe and he gave them his blessing

AM2R is, as it's name states, another Metroid 2 remake made by a fan. It's very well made and free, but Nintendo hit it with a lawsuit like right after they released the trailer for Samus Returns, instead of, you know, hiring the guy to make great 2D Metroid games

  • I think the most accurate definition is "produced without a publisher". That's the thing they're independent of.

Yeah I think it was the original meaning. And New Blood, ultrakill's publisher, is only doing small games so far IIRC (also they have some ridiculous merch for their games alongside some pretty cool one) so they fit the "indie-ish" publishers category I have

  • And ultrakill probably sold the least out of these 3 but actually has a publisher (it's also my favorite of the 3)

  • Bro I've got my hands full with two cats.

  • True but it's one that's usually handled and checked by technical people. Which is probably why they put it in the technical requirements checklist, now that you're saying it.

  • Mine supposedly doesn't. Never ever enabled Google assistant or whatever it is. I probably have some apps doing it stealthily while they're in use but at least they supposedly can't do it while the phone's in my pocket.

  • The base version, which was the only one available for a while, doesn't.

  • Phillips in electronics is what needs to die. They're always stupidly small and strip so easily

  • Snug

  • They're also the cutest spiders so they get a pass. The wolf spiders better stay hidden though (plus they hunt the other spider tenants that actually eat the bugs I don't want in my house)

TIL about operation Anthropoid, the only successful WW2 government-backed operation against a high-ranking nazi
