  • My parents (Gen x) have one that they got from my boomer grandma passing. They have a billion different sets of china they're trying to sell or auction, but no one wants it. They've told me it'll be mine when they pass and ugh. I appreciate that it's nice and all, but truly I'll probably just donate it to a rage room or something. A soup kitchen so they can all feel sophisticated. Dunno. I don't want it.

  • At 25, I was largely agnostic. Less so than I was even younger,but I had that kind of gotcha attitude like pushy asshole atheists do - at least from a hindsight perspective. My whole spiel was that I was smart, but I didn't know quantum physics or what makes a tree grow or whatever other niche thing, and therefore I couldn't know that there is no god/s or other powerful being. Therefore I was agnostic.

    I'm still in a similar ish boat, just without the pedantry. But I'm also leaning more anti-theist these days. Perhaps that's a little more of a political stance, but as much comfort and community as a place of worship can bring, it also creates so much of this us vs them mentality. Which is a shame. Like you, OP, I really like places of worship as a location. They're beautiful and serene. I heard a massive organ play in a gorgeous church in the US and it brought me to tears. But... The words that are taught there sow disfunction in society.

  • I love Motorola. I miss droids, specifically, but that's a bygone era unfortunately. I've tried all sorts of different brands and haven't found another that uses gesture controls like Moto does. Chop chop for flashlight, wiggle wiggle for camera? So damn handy. I've had a Samsung for the last while and while you can (kinda) program the buttons, it's such a lame imitations.

    Just give me a new droid that is smaller than 5.5", please.

  • Brought a union rep from a different shop into a conversation with my boss. My boss doesn't like me and has been targeting me, as some coworkers have told me. So I brought a stranger to the meeting with me because my own shop Steward sucks.

    Incredible decision. Suddenly the ball is rolling in so many directions and actually effecting things. So thankful to the rep and the union.

  • There was something in Hawaii I believe that was harming a bunch of native species, so they brought in the assassin snail to target the other snail killing everything else. Buuuut the assassin snail instead decided the local species were easier and more delicious. Shocking

  • If you've ever been near a paper plant, then you'd understand the horrible smell.

    Driving through that stretch is such a shock if you're not ready for it. It smells like cooking fish and broccoli in a microwave to me. Rotton broccoli fart smell.
