What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?

The goal this year (2026) is to lurk less and post and comment more.

  • I've got some more bread, avos, and eggs and crispy chilli oil in the fridge. I have the ingredients to make more chilli oil if needed. Come on over. 😁

  • Using my right hand's index and thumb to grab a hold of two adjacent corners, and then using my middle finger to lift from the bottom. Take a bite out of an opposite corner, and then feel the chilli oil drip down my finger.

Take another bite that shares about 10% of the previous bite, get a little bit of avocado on my nose, and feel the chilli oil drip down the back of my hand and towards my wrist.

    Making a mess, basically!

  • I would usually do a poached or fried egg, but I was starving and already had a boiled egg in the fridge.

  • But a large Shepherd avo was $0.89 AUD! Tax included. ;)

    Thank you! Easy, lazy breakfast.

  • It was delicious, thank you!

  • "I'm so hungry, I could eat the ass out of a low flying duck." "Fuck me dead."

    • Australia

Might not be idioms, but they do put some weird images in to one's mind.

  • I think it's an Easter religious thing for Christianity, since I see them advertised since December/January if Aldi/Coles/Woolworths.

Without the crosses, they'd just be hot buns, and I'd be okay with that. Or hearts, or checkers, or dicks, all is okay. 😂

  • 😂😭

  • Probably! I think I've only eaten currants in fresh form when they come in frozen mixed fruit bags.

  • Hot cross buns!

  • Sultanas are dried green grapes, so they're lighter in colour, whereas raisins are purple (or any dark) grapes. Sultanas are nicer to eat because they're not as hard, raisins just get stuck in my teeth.

Sultanas seem to be more common down under.

Edit: Forgot to say thank you!

  • That's awesome. I'm going to have to look in to this more seriously. Thank you for adding more fuel to a tiny little flame. 😊

  • 🤤...

  • I've not yet tried Fly by Jing for that very reason. Unsure if I will bite the bullet to try it now that I've found this recipe.

I've seen brands like Umami Papi, Momofuku (heard some good things about it, but also not willing to part with that much money), and Chotto Motto. Have not tried any.

I approved a food business mid last year and the guy swore by this one brand that I can't seem to find online. Said that he was friends with the owner, and I think it was a really small business at the time, not sure now. I'll post here when I'm able to find it.

If you get a chance to make this chili oil, let me know what you think in comparison to Fly by Jing, so I've got something to work with when I'm over in Malaysia!

  • Sure can! DM me your full name, address, and credit card information with security code, and it'll be on its way. 🫢

  • Same. Some swear by Lao Gan Ma, but for some reason, it makes my stomach feel funny.

This homemade one is by far the best I remember having, and I've had quite a few. I'll be heading off to Malaysia in about a month, so I'll report back if I find anything.

  • Potatoes, egg, bacon (?), and cheese.. Yum.

On first glance, I thought it was thin slices of spam on top. I'll take either. Did you use any sauces, or was it delicious as it was?

  • It's super easy. Takes just over an hour and a quarter with all of the waiting time. I spent the most time on measuring out the ingredients. Everything else was just waiting.

I've done other recipes, but I think I like this one the best so far. I just need to play with it to kick up the sichuan tingle a bit more without throwing out the flavour too much.

  • I know what you mean. What's even more infuriating is when one or both of two things happen:

    1. There's not "Skip to recipe" button; and/or
    2. In the recipe, they refer to the 5-page blurb.

A recipe should be able to stand on its own without having to read the blurb.

But I did read at some point in the last few years is that Google or search engines in general "look" at these blurbs and they get bumped to the top or something. I didn't read much in to it.
