  • That would only serve to piss off my SO.

  • To be fair they're athletes and might have had no idea who this random ass guy with clearance to be there was so they just rolled with it.

  • That's the same episode Wesley was encouraged to go run off and play with the other "children" with hair on their chests.

  • Accountability on their own activities? Good luck with that. They want surveillance on everyone else but would rather stay in the shadows themselves.

  • If you remove the art from the context, would it still mean the same to you? There are tons of unknown artists whose portraits are in circulation and their buyers would have no idea what they went through when painting them. At that point the artwork would have to stand on its own and resonate with the buyer for it to be meaningful for them.

  • It's so hard to choose one but I'd say Blind Guardian. If you love fantasy novels then you'll enjoy their songs. They cover LOTR, WoT, SA, The Witcher, and so many more. They've had consistently good albums and are always refining their sound, they've even released a full progressive symphonic album based on the pulp novels of Solomon Kane.

  • Just messaged my assembly member asking to vote against it. I suggest those who live in the state to do the same thing too.

  • I think defederation speaks volumes of the quality of the content in the instances that are blocked, wouldn't you agree? I wouldn't want to listen to genocide apologists or astroturfed propaganda. Yes that means the echo chamber gets a little more closed off but it's a prevention of exposure to some bad actors. I certainly wouldn't want to put up with people who do Charlie Kirk or Tucker Carlson moves by "just asking questions" all the time.

  • You can always go to another instance that wishes to associate with them. The idea of the fediverse is you get to pick the experience you want.

  • Reminds me of a quote from A Canticle for Lebowitz:

The horizon came alive with flashes as the monks mounted the ladder. The horizons became a red glow. A distant cloudbank was born where no cloud had been. The monks on the ladder looked away from the flashes. When the flashes were gone, they looked back. The visage of Lucifer mushroomed into hideousness above the cloudbank, rising slowly like some titan climbing to its feet after ages of imprisonment in the Earth...

...The breakers beat monotonously at the shores, casting up driftwood. An abandoned seaplane floated beyond the breakers. After a while the breakers caught the seaplane and threw it on the shore with the driftwood. It tilted and fractured a wing. There were shrimp carousing in the breakers, and the whiting that fed on the shrimp, and the shark that munched the whiting and found them admirable, in the sportive brutality of the sea. A wind came across the ocean, sweeping with it a pall of fine white ash. The ash fell into the sea and into the breakers. The breakers washed dead shrimp ashore with the driftwood. Then they washed up the whiting. The shark swam out to his deepest waters and brooded in the cold clean currents. He was very hungry that season.

  • Do you even know why the vote to defederate from Feddit came up? It's because there are quite a few Palestinian genocide apologist accounts from there. It's like the Nazi bar problem, you tolerate a few hanging out there and suddenly everyone else leaves while it gets full of them. I'd rather not hear that shit myself.

  • We vote on who we want to defederate from. Our vote threads even have cool pirate themed images and stuff.

  • Laughs in @lemmy.dbzer0.com.

  • Cats are nature's anarchists and I love them. Would still rather have dogs in the house though.

  • That argument always befuddled me. There will be a saturation point of AI data centers when there's enough equipment already installed and ready to use by these over bloated behemoth corporations. Once that's over or when the market hopefully pops, the demand for memory should have a steep decline. With their cash cow tapped out, WD and all the other memory manufacturers would then have to go back to consumers they previously fucked over to sell their new production stock. I doubt it'll be at the prices we saw a year ago but once enough memory hits the consumer market for a while, prices should start to dip back down.

  • Hell yeah the Sega Ages version is the definitive way to play. The built in dungeon map is a must if you don't want to lose your mind having to manually map it out yourself. I never knew the FM chip had such a drastic improvement to the soundtrack before this version came out. Add on the scan line filter and it's retro gaming bliss.
