  • In Switzerland that’s less than a rent in "large cities".

    For the cantons (regions) that have a minimum wage, this minimum is at 4000 and while possible, living at 4000/months in Geneva or Zurich is considered poverty. You can do it but it’s a constant fight to find low prices and save money, it’s survival, not living.

    I can only find bresaola when visiting relatives there, it’s almost impossible to find a bit farther north in Switzerland. Hell you can’t even find good French products in Geneva where France is 5 minutes away, so bresaola is just a distant dream.

  • For the last 20 years I’ve been eating only once a day (working shifts) so I’m trying to reintroduce a breakfast other than coffee with milk.

    To facilitate it I’m trying the "everything smoothie" with milk, banana, cereal, protein, frozen fruits.

    Lunch: water

    Dinner: The everything rice with vegetables and chicken or fish.

  • Air traffic controller. A shit ton of money for a shit ton of days off and holidays.

    My highest degree is from the aviation school so it’s kinda useless outside of aviation.

    Same for my pilots friends, none of them went to university/college but rather straight to flying school after the mandatory diploma you pass at around eighteen (Baccalauréat in France).

    It is great but the downside is that if we want to change careers we can only become business owners (aka, create our own jobs) because nobody wants us and we don’t accept their "real world" shitty work conditions.

    Edit: I watched some videos and most of the people seemed to say "core da lane" with a different emphasis on lane. And one fella saying "coor d’alane"

    In French it’s Coeur like beurre, and Alène like À laine. Anyway, it’s cool to have a place named "heart of" something

    I have a better job with low hours for more money but still have to be cautious about costs. They have several houses with a garden that I can only dream about.

    They have a retirement plan that I can only dream about and an happy life while I’m ok-ish but depressive.

    But I have 10Gbs fiber optic internet and a NAS+Seedbox so there’s that.

    You can start with an OS like YunoHost if you don’t feel comfortable. Next step, to mee, would be an immutable Linux docker machine with podman.

    But YunoHost is already a good start and you can have a multimedia server, nextcloud or anything else (example, paperless ngx to scan, organize and store your important documents with OCR to search them)

  • Also the piefed main dev is nice normal human being with humanist views of the world. He has a rational discourse toolkit box with links about how to handle extremism, disinformation and stuff like that.

    Piefed would be much better aligned with your views.

  • While I agree that the universe is too vast for any species to meet another one, I secretly hope that if we do it will unite us.

    That humanity will realize we are the same species, stop fighting and ruining our world to go fight them and ruin their world (cause that’s what we do and love).

    Also that we will react with the golden retriever mindset of two existential questions:

    • Can I eat this?
    • Can I fuck this?
