  • I do that to. What I love is that while walking the last hundreds meters to the place you are going you can see all the people who try to park close that are all getting angry in their cars, proving you were right to park further away.

Once you start you never go back.

  • Not true. Our cars account for more than 15% of the problem. Our meat is about the same. With just those two things, we are over the 25% of the "factor 4" from Rio. It is oversimplified, but it gives the idea: if the Ultra richs stop polluting, we are still doomed if the rest of us doesn't do something either.

  • Dear Americans : as you probably know, most of Europe is turning to shit right now, so you have a bit of time to make things good on your end before parts of europe fall into fascism(again). Seeing you succeeding in overturning this will certainly help us do the same when time comes.

Articles like this give me hope. Hungary gave me hope too, but the scale is different.

  • Can't he just create a stalemate where the NYPD blocks Netanyahu's car and then call the feds?

They would probably do nothing with him, but Mamdani would have done his part, Netanyahu would have an horrible time, and the trump administration would have once again to explain their acts, maybe loosing a few voters along the way.

But maybe it would make things even worse, IDK.

  • Well, we thought we didn't want them to last, but right now in Europe renovating concrete building from the 30s is becoming a major preoccupation. More importantly 20 years from now the massive amount of constructions from after WWII will start to turn 100, and I don't think we can afford to build it all again.

More recent buildings have better reinforcement cover, but not the post war ones.

  • "met" is for methamphetamine. "AI" is for glorified chatbot.

  • It's not that transparent because of the algae.

  • Of course he did. Why the question mark?

  • Uh, I never heard of Yunohost before but it actually seems awesome ! I bookmarked it. It might lead me to start with getting serious with selfhosting sooner than expected. The downside is that it will lead me to ask even more stupid questions to this community...

  • I've been wanting to learn basic self hosting for a while but I don't really have the time to dig into it now (I have two young kids, a job that takes a lot of brandwitch, and brand new medical problems). I'm only in this situation because Jellyfin was waaaay to easy to setup locally so now I want more. It's all their fault.

In a few years I'll dig more, for myself and to be able to teach some basic tech literacy to my daughters when they grow up.

  • Ok, I guess it's not stupid if it works! And it seems easy. I'll try netbird first (recommended below), as their tutorial on how to setup jellyfin seems pretty comprehensive. If I fail this is number two on my list !

  • They all seem self hosted and I am not yet to the point where I feel at ease with that as it seems to be "exposed" (I don't really know what it means to be honest). I do intend to get into this kind of stuff later though.

  • Netbird has a free tier that they host, It seems simple enough and it is open source! That's a lot of perks. I'll start by trying that !

  • Github appears to be owned by microsoft so I'd rather avoid that if possible (on principle), but if the rest fails I'll fall back to that !

  • Thanks, everyone. That sounds like a viable option. Is it as secure as Tailscale in terms of privacy?

  • Selfhosted @lemmy.world

as a noob, should I connect jellyfin with tailscale using OIDC?

  • You should not worry remembering this one's name. It will be inhabitable soon anyway.

  • Then you live with the guilt, which is still better than lying to yourself, but still pretty hard. That is were most of us are.

  • Is kagi any good to filter out AI generated slop web pages?
