  • I second smbsync2 for phone backup. It's very customizable and once setup, just works.

    I also use syncthing but only for syncing files I want to be the same on all devices. FreeTube watch history and subscriptions, stuff like that.

  • The domain I use professionally is simply my full name. Then I use a catch-all so I can give out a mailbox specific to who it's for. Often that looks like YourCompany@MyName.com That way if I get spammed I know who to blame.

  • This reminds me of Kung Fury, which has a very 80's/90's aesthetic. They tried a variety of ways to filter the final movie to give it the right feel for the time period. Finally, unsatisfied with digital methods, they ended up running it through an actual VCR.

  • Tictok shutdown for a week or however long it was. Then we see it's CEO sitting alongside Trump, Zuck and the rest of the oligarchs at the inauguration. Shortly after, the service goes live again followed by user complaints about their feeds being different.

    It's not confirmed but the theory is that tictok is now feeding data to meta, or even running off their servers entirely, so that the US government has easy access to everything.
