    In Germany, religious defamation is covered by Article 166 of the Strafgesetzbuch, the German criminal law. If a deed is capable of disturbing the public peace, defamation is actionable. The article reads as follows:[53]

    In 2006, the application of this article received much media attention when a Manfred van H. (also known as "Mahavo") was prosecuted for defamation for distributing rolls of toilet paper with the words "Koran, the Holy Koran" stamped on them.[54][55][56] The defendant claimed he wanted to protest the murder of Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh in 2004 and the London bombings of 2005. Beyond the sentence he also received death threats from Islamists and needed a police bodyguard.[56]

    What is called "Blasphemy law" here is just protection of religious people, in particular minorities against persecution and incitement of hatred. You know, because last time when it was en vogue in Germany it led to millions of people being exterminated for their (alleged) religious affiliation.

    If such a protection is called "Blasphemy law", the same would have to be said for laws protecting LGBT, disabled people, ethnic minorities and other vulnerable groups.

  • Pacifists who punch Nazis simply is self contradictory. It is like a virgin who had sexual relationships. It simply contradicts itself.

    Somebody who chose to punch Nazis instead of killing them is hesitant to killing people, but he isn't a pacifist.

    Also it is problematic to say that Pacifism would entail anything but killing people, because that will mean anyone who does not call themselves pacifist would be easily equated to be a killer.

  • Don't the people in those countries use a proxy to access tor first? probably that means cycling through the proxies regularly as they become known. I have no doubt that it is impossible to prevent truly tech savvy people from access. Also Russia, Iran and China all run state sanctioned hackers, so the governments have a vested interest in allowing these groups to obscure where they are coming from.

    But i am not sure how much that transpires to a broader public.

    Biden/Harris never even bothered to push Israel for a ceasefire. When Biden wamted some election optics he demanded Israel to end the blockade in September 2024 and demanded 1000 aid trucks per day. Israel didnt even let in a quarter of that and had their local ISIS affiliated Abu Shabab gang rob the UN trucks. Of course Biden didnt back up any of his threats.

    Trump pushed for a ceasefire so his inauguration would look good, which lead to a two month reprise for the people of Gaza, who would otherwise all be murdered with starvation by now.

    A lot of his base is furious that Trump now is also doing the bidding of the Zionist lobby, but there is no reason to believe why Biden, who proclaimed himself as a loyal Zionist and Harris who proclaimed to continue his legacy, wouldn't be doing even more to help Israel "finish the job" now. They just dont say it like this in the same way how they didnt talk so loud about their deportation numbers to the liberal voters when they continued Trumps deportation regime.
