  • The second flag's colors look extremely well balanced in both brightness and color variance between them. That's weirdly satisfying to look at.

But yeah, just having higher contrast in the chart would be a good start. Maybe some kind of three dimensionality with graded shadows? Or like have them as lines, and have them not have such similar angles? But then I expect that to be messy and not quick to read, either.

  • Do you have any design suggestions for op? (Assuming they're the originators of this chart)

Because as it is, this data is pretty hard to concisely portray. Whoever made this decided to use color, alone, which, even for me who is not colorblind, thinks could use some improvement. Design IS hard, the question is how.

  • Yeah but this graph would have so much more data >:)

  • Not according to this graph

  • I assume for you it may be because of your display type. But that made me think of colorblind people and how much this format probably totally excludes them as an entire swath of the population

  • I find it mildly interesting that there's no inverse of lemmygrad, that defederates from everybody else

  • Uhhh

  • People tend to only know their own lived experience and think that they're "normal". Hurt people hurt people, privileged people have massive blind spots. Everybody judges, it's how we learn. And some people are grumpy.

  • Cope

  • Keep going! AI is the future!

We all love AI. I wish it were smarter and made it so I could have it do anything.

I don't want to spend anything on it though, that's your investment. Keep going, though! Don't let your dreams be dreams!

  • Lmao, even

  • Since defederating is essentially an explicit block list and is directional, my assumption is that the groups that are circled have defederated from the things they're pointing at. I could be wrong.

    Map needs a key/legend.

The red circled stuff seems to be only one possible option, but isn't visually very distinct, and the red circle shouldn't be broken like that, just make sure the lines are all visible.

  • Block the "default". That's actually pretty clever. Not because you dislike those people, but because it's the default and requires extra effort to not be a part of.

  • A fascinating story, for sure.

But, even before your examination of the topic of guilt, it doesn't really fit into this community, does it? To me, it just reads like some mildly clickbait news.

  • Being "reasonable" with unreasonable people is unreasonable. Be reasonable.

  • Yeah an outrageous amount, plus ethical costs to undo all the fuckery, the lost peace, the labor and lost investments, and all of that doubled, is the correct fee.

If the house would have sold for 1m, ask for 50m, then the environmental damage costs in equipment and labor and plants and animals, so now we're up to 1b, doubled to 2b, and a fat 50% fuckyou fee on top and round up to 3b usd.

People need to aim higher. If the company won't pay and will ruin your life instead, then guess their intent is actual war, and they shall have it.

Don't let the bullies win. Fight back.

  • Oh yeah you did, sorry, just an interesting tidbit on terminology

  • Strokes happen, and a lot more often than we know. Like it's funny, but brain damage is well within the realm of possibility. It doesn't change anything - or, I guess, I suppose it does change things, often permanently, so that might be one very real, very possible reason.

Probably not good to chalk it up to "my partner left me because they had a stroke". I, personally, would say it's healthiest to land on "there were differences between both of us that somehow disabled healthy communication" because that's most often reality. That being said, until there's a pattern and you still can't tell what you may be doing, I wouldn't worry too much about you doing something worth changing. If there is a pattern, however, that's probably worth looking into.

I've dated people who have this pattern. It's not really their fault. One person was neurodivergent (i am too) and I'm avoidant af. I basically lied and ghosted them for a few months, claiming needing space, which was true, but it helped me see the issues I had with their person, the incompatibilities that I couldn't get over. They bothered me deeply, but I decided they were not something about them I could emotionally handle or would be in any way constructive to confront them over. To this day, I still feel horrible that I had to do that, but saw no other way out. I'd like to think I've matured since then and maybe could handle it better, but it hasn't been that long since.

And eventually reconnected with them and apologized and we officially broke up. They weren't happy, but thankful that I didn't entirely ghost them. We're still sort of friends but don't talk much, and they seem to have found their people, which I'm really glad for.

This story is just one, very specific possibility. From what I've seen in my limited lifespan, it's probably not the only kind of situation. I'm definitely at fault too.

Breaking up is hard. There isn't a set way and a lot of people just don't know how to do it. I don't have great advice for you, but I still think empathy is the way forward for us all, including for yourself.
