There will be times when the struggle seems impossible. Alone, unsure, dwarfed by the scale of the enemy. Freedom is a pure idea. It occurs spontaneously and without instruction. Random acts of insurrection are occurring constantly. There are whole armies, battalions that have no idea that they've already enlisted in the cause. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear.

  • Fired because of stuff she's been doing, or stuff she hasn't been doing?

Noem repeatedly suggested the president was aware of the campaign and signed off on it.

Oh, that makes sense. Fired for a petty reason by the hurt snowflake in charge.

  • I love how people fight over what's the better editor. I just use whatever makes sense for the time, and it's not always the same one. But if you're happy with just one of them and can make it work for you in any situation, then you do you. That's the point of Linux, or so I thought.

  • It could be overused now where it wasn't before. Or it could be where it was suppressed before. It may be somewhere in the middle. Which is better than being ignored and alienated, even if some use is more hype than realism.

I think we're all on a spectrum in lots of different ways. Rainbows. Rainbows everywhere.

  • So the same strategy they're trying with ICE at home. Do little actions to get a reaction that gives an excuse to hit back harder. Sounds fascist. Because it is.

  • Exactly. Meat-lover pizza was usually the one where people would want to pile on the stuff, and rather than waste everyone's time, we just explained exactly what would happen, and people would understand. Could such a thing be cooked, probably, but it would be a far different process than typical pizza, and not something you'd get from a brand store. The same goes for some others, like no sauce, extra cheese, or extra crispy orders. Got to be very careful when straying outside the formula of usual pizza.

I like black olives as a garnish, like with other toppings on a pizza. As a texture and part of the whole taste. By themselves, nope.

  • I accept that some people like those rancid things. Such is the glory of pizza, where we can all share in what we prefer. And no, I'm not pushing for pineapple, not because of the taste, which is fine, but it tends to make it soggy. Too many toppings can ruin a pizza, too (past professional opinion, I've seen requests that don't work well).

  • In the administration, true. The military side has some smart people, though, and at some point, this has to break. We might as well make a crown now if it's yes-men all the way down. They took a damn oath.

I also get the dilemma of falling on a sword one at a time. It doesn't do much of anything except lose a career and ruin a life. Much like protesting single-handedly against oppression results in losing a job, while needing that paycheck, and no change from the action.

But enough pebbles at one time make an avalanche.

  • A tank pre-steam power. The force of steam was known about long before, but not utilized. Maybe because the metals weren't good enough yet to hold pressure? Imagine a steampunk Rome.

  • More importantly, nothing was done. A decade or more ago, associating and supporting such things was done, but quietly. Now (or last year) it's openly okay for a Congressperson to say it out loud. That, and saying fascism is fine. We're past the point of warning signs, the house is on fire.

  • That is an issue, one that is being discussed and can be turned off currently. Meanwhile Microsoft is head deep in AI so much they're renaming known trademarks into their AI brand. So... I don't think Mozilla is the bigger problem.

  • I don't like "favorite" or even top ten, as there are so many things out there that classify as good in a category. But two recent ones I reheard that came to mind were "Empty Garden" by Elton John and "It Must Have Been Love" by Roxette

  • What's going on?

  • Riker: "Eject the warp core!"

    La Forge: "I just did."

  • Maybe they can hold their ground for long enough to get something accomplished. Like last time, remembe... oh, right. Shit.

  • Urine is already diluted by water, so you're most of the way there.

  • "Nobody knew!" - some U.S. President

  • So compression of knowledge is lossy.
