There will be times when the struggle seems impossible. Alone, unsure, dwarfed by the scale of the enemy. Freedom is a pure idea. It occurs spontaneously and without instruction. Random acts of insurrection are occurring constantly. There are whole armies, battalions that have no idea that they've already enlisted in the cause. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear.

  • If things were shut down to prevent access to anything, I don't think legal action is possible, or even the path to take. Probably why it would never be done that quickly or drastically. The art of oppression is knowing the limit of what people will put up with and not crossing the line, but moving the line slowly. Go too fast, the commons get upset and find their torches.

  • I get the point, reduce the suffering when you're at the moment. This is what I don't look forward to as well, not death itself, but dying in whatever form it takes. But know that any suffering is also finite, even the long ones, and hopefully you can avoid the few longer versions.

    But for now, live for the moment. You get one shot at this, so don't spend it worrying about something that hasn't happened yet. Enjoy life, observe the details around you that we tend to block out as noise. Find ways to record and pass them on to others.

  • Either I have some inside knowledge of that exact thing happening and I know the company (not saying who) or this is probably a common things that happened to a lot of major companies (more likely). To be fair, I do not have privy on how far it went and how much it cost before they realize the problem, and it may not have been this much. Which further suggests it's a thing everywhere.

  • I think it's an earlier episode than "Miri", but the one where they get infected and everyone is doing stuff because their barriers are down (drunk), Kirk mentions in his breakdown before Spock kicks sense into him the ensign that he sees every day, but can't do anything. So there was the thoughts deep down, but Kirk has disciple and morality. Even more so in the novel version, Kirk is a prodigy in most canon books and wouldn't do that stuff.

  • Yes, but there can be debates on which version of Reese's is the best. I've become accustomed to the ratio in the miniatures, and while I would never turn down a regular one, it now tastes a bit off. I once got a giant Reese's for Christmas and discovered you can't eat that right, it's going to be too much of one or the other usually.

    But that does bring a memory back. I remember seeing the first commercials for Reese's as a kid, and it was around Easter. You better believe I grabbed the chocolate bunny I got and a jar of peanut butter to test the theory!

  • If it happens, they were already closely related on the species branch, and usually there are issues with their DNA and ability to reproduce themselves because of the slight differences.

  • The best part was the theme that the walking dead aren't the zombies. Then it makes it seem all too real. We just don't have zombies in reality.

  • No, I don't see mention of it being an application but like Dogpile is a web-based collector.

    I did a search myself, but (given how searching sucks now) couldn't find anything. Lots of hits for search engines themselves, but getting past that to other methods back then is difficult.

    It was much like an FTP or torrent program but you'd load up what search engines to use and your search words, and it would actively pull the info then provide a single page with all results.
