Being Gen X it was pretty free range at my house. But probably the biggest irritation was having plans made for you. Doesn’t matter what it was, some kind of work that needed to be done or something. Hated having a plan in my head for the day or whatever and the parents would be “nope, you’re gonna be doing ‘x, y, and z’…” with no warning. MF why u wait until I have something to do to tell me?! Also, the power to make my own decisions. My parents made a lot of decisions for us without our input or knowledge, so it made decision making kinda difficult when we got out on our own. Something as simple as getting a bank account or choosing what classes we took in school. Unfortunately having to escape a verbally abusive narcissist of a parent was huge plus.
So yeah, mostly having control over my own plans and agenda, getting info and making decisions. I say “mostly” because life still throws shit at you that’s out of your control sometimes.

Ok, that was unnecessary. We could go on rant about excess anything, like oxygen or water, also potentially causing harm or even death. People drinking beverages designed to have excess caffeine and other stimulants are not comparable to what would be considered normal consumption. FWIW I think energy drinks suck, they absolutely can cause harm.
Having a couple cups of coffee a day, as long as you don’t have any deleterious effects, has been associated with health benefits. Leave it at that.
I want an EV. I also unfortunately drive longer distances than most people on average and also let my car sit for days with no access to a charge. Some EV systems use 1-2% battery per day for BMS, conditioning and telemetry, and that would make it difficult to use an EV in my case and only charge to the 80% mark to ensure battery longevity.
Nobody really makes a car that can do that for an affordable price. Yeah, I guess I’m probably a special use case, but nonetheless the cost and range limitations are prohibitive.
I can only imagine the legal stonewalling. Sue who? The company who hired the device? The manufacturer? Programmers? The leasing company? Everyone passing the legal buck around making it incredibly difficult and expensive for anyone to sue in an attempt to exhaust the victim or their family.

You can deploy a lot of $96 semi-effective hardware and improve it vs something that might be thousands or even tens or hundreds of thousands to deploy.

Been on my mind quite a bit lately. We need a “sub-net” or something, like those community mesh nets, that isn’t controlled by Big Data and infested with Big Corpo. A Fediverse of ‘nets.
However, just as we’ve discovered in the Fediverse, there are going to be size disparities, out-groups, in-groups, radicals, etc.

This meme wildly overestimate that the genpop has the faintest clue about the cost of AI. In my very few discussions with people that even bother to bring it up with curiosity absolutely none of them understood how big of a resource hog data centers are. A few might’ve had a clue that AI results can be wrong, but then they went on to basically apologize for AI’s current errors by stating how much good it could do via research while not having any idea what was different between say medical AI and one they use to make their animated memes or converse with.
I’m in my basement, with collected 80’s Robotech and Transformers toys, a 3D printer, a self-built watercooled gaming PC, a linux PC, boxes of decades of tech junk, a printed Darth Vader helmet I’m trying to finish so maybe I can go to a ‘con suited up, a backup of all of my favorite movies like Better off Dead and Princess Bride….
