  • TL;DR: it’s not the screens or tech’s fault. It’s the overall pressure to lower standards and people that for whatever reason can't work with tech.

After seeing my kids go through school I’d say the chief issues with performance are external. Tech and screens are like any tool, they’re only as good as the user.

Parents and society place less importance on education and critical thinking, in fact they often insult it. Parents teach their kids that they’re not responsible for their failings, it’s the teacher’s or the school’s fault. Parent’s don’t have the knowledge to help with the tech, nor will they police the kid’s use of the tech, either because they dgaf or can’t understand it. Teaching standards keep moving the goalposts to help the least common denominator. Teachers also aren’t allowed to teach in a way, there’s always some “do-gooder” latest study that’s supposed to teach kids better, but it’s bullshit management worried more about studies and metrics than just teaching. Teachers spend more time jumping through hoops than teaching.

  • After a decade of reddit and over a half million karma I quit for multiple reasons. Primarily the cash grab for the API and forcing the reddit app, but also the explicit acknowledgement that the mods and community were absolutely being exploited for unpaid labor and anyone who didn’t bend a knee could get fucked.

  • Sounds like middle management, too. Wanting to take credit for the work of others.

  • It‘s laughble how many conservatives acted like “our” oil companies would somehow take care of us and keep gas prices down. The only loyalty those companies have is to profit based on market demand. “America” doesn’t even come into the picture.

  • Start a war and then say he can‘t leave office due to (insert bullshit war-related reason here) or something.

The rules don‘t mean anything if nobody follows them or enforces them.

  • Pretty sure cheating is the plan. The only way he does business.

  • It’s official. He’s going for the Putin-esque “democracy”…a dictatorship where you beat the crap out of people at the polls for voting opposition.

  • They always confuse socialism with harsh authoritarian dictatorships, no doubt reinforced by right wing rhetoric. It’s ironic that people flee these crushing governments only to come to the US and vote for right wing authoritarian fascism. Just proves they haven’t a clue about socialist policy and the ability to differentiate between that and horrible leaders.

  • How do you mean “country is worth fighting for”?

Other than 9/11, when was the last time we worried about being attacked?

  • Golden age of ignorant people.

  • The invasion in Venezuela. The Iran War. The aid to Israel’s genocide. Bombs in Somalia, Yemen, Iraq, Nigeria, and Syria.

And don’t forget all the people he killed on boats in the Caribbean.

All in roughly the last year and a half.

  • Cheaper for the government to let them wear their own carhartt and 5.11 clothes.

  • Nice rack.

    I did mine alphabetically.

  • That’s an incredibly expensive prank. Over $2,000 USD for a skull alone.

  • Right? “Is he alive without life support?” would be a pretty basic question to get answered.

  • I cant wait to learn of the kompromat they get on him when they get him completely smashed and whatever state secrets he stupidly reveals.

  • Just like investment real estate squatters buying up houses, driving up real estate costs, and then forcing you to rent.

Next, Apple keeps jacking up lease prices.

  • Why? So their LLM’s can ingest the books and use them to churn out more AI slop?
